I don't really want to come out pro one way or the other because I don't play 6s, but...
I think CEVO is going about this the wrong way. It was very similar when we tried to get highlander started with them. I think trying to overthrow an established organization by offering the same service or less is fundamentally flawed. The ONLY benefit they have going in is that a lot of you guys (justifiably) don't like ESEA anymore.
CEVO did exactly nothing besides add a highlander section on their site to help get that going. Whitelist, rules, teams, servers, everything... it was all handled by the community. From what I experienced there was zero outreach to established teams and players to give them any reason to join. This was to a much smaller degree than the current ESEA fiasco, but they were still banking solely on the fact that people didn't like UGC.
There was little (nothing, really) done to give anyone a reason to not play UGC and start playing CEVO. No prizes, no divisions, no incentive. You guys are a little further along with prizes in 6s, but you still have the same if not better offered by your alternate league, which was the same issue with HL.
I always suggested starting smaller (tournament or cup with some sort of prize or buy-in), trying to attract the best and most popular teams, and going from there. Instead, for HL they dropped a season directly on top of UGC's season (even default match times were within an hour of UGC). It was the same "if we all leave it'll be ok, but there's no chance in Hell we're all going to leave because everyone is already here" type of deal. We had some people move over or try to play both, but nobody took CEVO seriously once it started and there wasn't much to it. Looks like that is happening again.
Again I'm not pro ESEA, but I don't think what CEVO is offering will be very good at all. My team played CEVO HL because we wanted that to work to, but it didn't and this doesn't strike me as very different. I think the best thing that can come from this is ESEA straightening up and improving their service.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I really think we should be targeting people playing in platinum more for the drive. Too much of the language in UGC's post is aimed at others. Mentoring aside, there's little reason for anyone outside outside of plat to donate. Like others have already said, there's no national pride or anything else on the line, and the mentoring price is a bit steep, leading to no real incentive other than pure altruism. Don't get me wrong, it kicks ass if people want to throw in, but in order to be a success the people participating should really be most accountable.. Hence my post above.
Early signs point to there being 7 or 8 teams who'll have a shot at some good money. I think the players on those teams should really lead by example, even if its just $5 or $10 a piece. I'd guess people outside of plat might be more willing to donate knowing that the players with the chance to win aren't getting something for nothing.
Also, if you are playing in platinum and don't donate, gtfo.
get the fuck out of mix you idiots.
GG everyone involved. I think it was the closest final we've had in over a year
That happened in like August...
Ginyu was arguably stronger this season than last, they just couldn't keep their roster in playoffs.
