Hey folks,
There have been numerous threads with Twitch bashing in the past, and I tend to stay away from them to keep myself emotionally sane. This time it’s probably in my best interest to not do that and let you guys know my thoughts.
Did we drop the ball on a few things? Absolutely. We’re a startup. We move fast. We make crazy decisions. Sometimes we don’t think things through as deeply as we should. We take feedback, analyze it, and grow from our mistakes. We’re always learning, and that’s a good thing. Mistakes are great for us. If you make no mistakes, you don’t learn. You become complacent, and you lose sight of what’s important: your users and the communities they've created.
Is change necessary? Absolutely. If we want to grow this into something REALLY HUGE, we need to change the way we do some things. We need to cover our asses. We need to cover your asses.
I just want you to know that I’m reading and listening. I've invested a ton of time and energy (a significant chunk of it on my personal time) to help you guys grow and get the credit you deserve for how passionate and dedicated you are. This community means a lot to me, and I’ll do everything in my power to do right by you guys. No amount of anger you throw at me or the company I work for is going to change that.
