I've been discussing this with my team (who is really new to the game, all told) and one thing that we're worried about is that we're just paying to play in a league where we just get our shit stomped in by much better teams. It's not that we're afraid of facing better teams, because we do want a challenge, but I for one don't want to drop $30 to get 5-0ed twice a week by invite players offclassing. We want to step up and challenge ourselves, but we've been told in the past by open players that there's such a significant divide in skill in the league that we'd get more matches that we can actually learn from just staying in UGC.
I guess what I want to know is if there's been a large change in this, if there is an actual chance that a less experienced team can have quality matches, or if it's just going to be a complete waste of our time and money.

damn son, laying the fucking smackdown
yankeeJonesyMcFlyalso, it might be worth considering making a subforum for finding scrim partners, idk just a thought
with how developed #tf2scrim is there's really no need for a subforum. irc is in real time, so it's going to be faster. there's also nothing stopping you from adding people you scrim there and planning future scrims that way
yeah, that's a good point. idk, maybe just have a stickied post that says "if you want scrims, go to this channel"? because as of right now it doesn't seem like there's much of a way for newer teams to find out about the channel and if they don't know about it people are just going to keep making threads like this, only to be bitched at by the community at large
blinKFuture, you need to go on irc it's the best way to look for scrims. You can download mIRC pretty easily, from there connect to the GameSurge network. Then enter the channel #tf2scrim - Once there, post something like this: "6's ours/yours (<server) mapyouwant high open" ie. "6's ours granary high open+". Also the pug systems are via irc as well so it's a good thing for you to download it regardless if you want to continue improving.
how to contribute to the thread in a helpful way that doesn't make you look like an asshole and also helps newer players get to play videogames

how to not help anyone at all while being a huge dick to someone who clearly doesn't know better

Mini's a pretty cool guy. He's super easy to get along with, and he puts a lot of time into getting better. He has really strong gamesense and DM, and has pretty much taught me everything I know about this game. I couldn't recommend this nerd highly enough, he really deserves the chance to play some video games.
chivefacesHopefully Robin Walker doesn't stay with Valve forever.Wow. What an offensive thing say. Robin Walker created Team Fortress. He believes that each class has a purpose, and he wanted to see each class be able to do well in competative. That doesn't mean being run all the time in 6s. That means used more often than off classing on last. Sort of like how many players love playing sniper to any point. I agree; some classes are a bit broken (Pyro airblast), but robin just wants to see each class useful in most situations.
if classes weren't fucking annoying to play against (i.e. engi and heavy) it'd be amazing to see them used more often
if valve didn't go about making those classes be used more often with unlocks like the gru and the gunslinger then that'd be fantastic
unfortunately valve seems to think that it's a good idea to make classes literally nullify the classes that are designed to be most effective against them
look if you fuckers aren't rap battling shut your fucking mouths
I'm not sure about how the poll is worded. It would seem that asking "how much are you willing to pay" would elicit better responses than "how much would you prefer to pay", since pretty much everyone would rather pay the least amount of money.
Still, it's good to see some follow-up on this issue. Thanks for your great work as always!
sildeezyJonesyMcFlyi can't rap but i'd love to hear your sick rhymes
so uh
you're dumb sildeezy, i'm calling you out
We don't even have beef though :(
fuck :(

it was already viable, the only reason it didn't see more use is that wrangler is retardedly fucking overpowered and valve hasn't done shit about it
squid
he has 10 tentacles and lives underwater, whereas most tf2 players don't even have one
as medic after dropping come up with some bullshit excuse about lag or your mouse not working or solar flares to convince your team that you aren't shit at this game
AndKennethI love that now I can tell our demo to "stop being a pussy" and it can be an actual call.
wait, it wasn't before?
It seems like CEVO's more than willing to work with the community to establish their ruleset. If it doesn't give any real advantage for TF2, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to allow it.
