#7 Salute to Newbie Teams! in TF2 General Discussion

The fact that newbie mixes (and now the newbie team drive) is still churning out solid players makes my heart so happy! Couldn't ask for a better group of people to be running these things.

If you want to help next season or week-to-week, message the team on discord! https://discord.gg/ZT9ANzs

#13 Fall damage random variance. in TF2 General Discussion
GrapeJuiceIIINot very related to the variance but i think fall damage should be calculated by time in the air rather than speed if it’s even possible. it would eliminate being cratered by rockets and by people just landing on you as you’re falling.

i will cry if they get rid of downsmashes

#1 How to set up a local mumble server (for LAN use) in LAN Discussion

Hey, guys. I assumed this is just what everyone did for LANs, but apparently it's not. It's incredibly easy, and it's the first thing I do every lan I actually play on.

  1. Download the latest version of mumble: https://wiki.mumble.info/wiki/Main_Page
  2. Install mumble (if you already have it, select "Change").
    Show Content
  3. Where it gives you the install options, click the icon next to "Murmur" and select "Will be installed on local hard drive"
    Show Content
  4. Go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mumble" (or wherever your mumble is installed) and open "murmur.exe". Be sure to enable everything to connect to it if you're prompted by firewall/etc. Once launched, an icon should appear in your tray.
  5. Open command prompt (Windows Key+R, type "cmd"). Type "ipconfig" and press enter. Find your "IPv4" address. This is the IP you give to everyone else on the network. You will use "127.0.0.1" on your computer. Default port.
    Show Content
  6. OPTIONAL: If you want it password-protected, go back to your mumble folder and right-click "murmur.ini", click edit, and find "serverpassword", and type whatever you want after the equal sign.

Ta da! Private, local mumble server. If I ever see any of you using discord on LAN again, I'm going to cry for you. You deserve better.

Hey guys. I hate spending a ton of money on uber/lyft/etc every lan, and I don't think this thread exists yet. Post when and where you need a ride. Pay gas money or split the uber.

#7 cold showers make u better at life (not clickbait) in Off Topic

I have to be up for school around 5:30am each morning, and I always end my showers with 30 seconds of just the cold water running. If I don't do it, it takes me the first few hours of my day to really wake up. 30 seconds of mild pain is absolutely worth 2-4 hours of really productive morning time.

Been doing this for a couple years, and I feel like I've really turned around from being a lazy bum to a fairly productive, good student. Obviously, there were a lot of other life changes/ big decisions that happened over that time, but I feel this is definitely a contributing factor.

#4 Need newbie mix coaches in Projects

Hey guys, I feel like I've posted this a million time but here we go

PLEASE support newbie mixes in any way you can. It brings people from the scary waters of "i want to maybe try this thing" onto the boat of "hell yeah this rocks" better than anything else in our community. It always has, and Jarrett is working hard to ensure it always will. Please help him in doing this. It only takes a few hours every few weeks!!!
