what i got out of this video
0:00-0:07 dramatic intro
0:08-0:23 laughing at small hours/ lobbies played stats (rocking the alias "muselk killed tf2c" no less)
0:24-3:18 fast forwarded footage of mediocre heavy gameplay ft. spawn camps at every possible point
3:19-3:44 don't do this! even if i did it! let's not be jerks to new players (but pardon me while i make fun of someone they respect with my alias). play in hour restricted lobbies, unlike me. leave those slots for me so i can feel good about my gaming ability.
smh
@flame
We have a draft which we basically just put in a random group of 6 people in with a random coach that's determined by how many mixes each newbie has played. We balance the mixes by having 3 skill "tiers" in each class's add up zone. We just have about the same number of "novice" "beginner" and "experienced" on each team.
I will be working out details this saturday. I just finished finals yesterday and I have newbie mixes to do today.
Sorry for the delays in info. be ready for a little after noon est. I'll have a set time tomorrow most likely.
indecencyleast hes not uncle dane
Yo real talk Dane is literally my favorite person let's not go here THANKS
ForefatherDid you guys really expect anything but aids from the people who watch his videos?
Hello friend.
I watch his videos. And star's. And Jerma's. And Dane's. And etc. They all highlight TF2 in a completely different way than I play it, and them trying to bring their sub-communities closer to ours will be seriously awesome. It's kinda the thing I take away from the TF2Can event from a while back. Separating tf2 into different tiers of quality/elitism, as you are doing, doesn't get anything accomplished.
SORRY if your lobby experience is less than optimal over the next few weeks. A true tragedy.
aieraparkhttp://i.imgur.com/KM5DzPT.jpgAren't you playing in Open?
it's a good thing but just saying this is not going to be enough
i will never get in a mix again ;_;

we typically let players up to low silver level play in the mixes, and very low open player can offclass. It helps the newbies out as well as teaching the basics of a new class to a semi-experienced person.
Yes, tragicservers provides 4 servers, and that's normally more than enough for us. Anyone interested in donating a server for our usage this Friday (or any fridays), please TFTV PM me the connect string and the rcon along with the times you're okay with us using it.
The admins will be organizing this event as much as we can, but if it's as big as we're hoping we will need the community's support.
For anyone curious, the newbie mixes group has acquired over 300 new members since this video was posted. While this is very exciting... PLEASE COME COACH ON FRIDAY. ALL OF YOU.

Love him or hate him, be ready for a fair bit of new players on these forums, ugcforums, and truetf2. Be nice wooo
edit: also, he shouted out newbie mixes so we may or may not have a lot more 100% new gamers there this friday. if you aren't doing anything PLEASE be a cool gamer and coach a game or 2.
In week 1, tony jawk will play Tip of the Toucans in what could be a pretty good match. Auzzie, dippidy, and dashner should be just fine on the flank against reimu and june. I see tony jawk taking the match at 5-3 or so. Their second match against THE TERROR OF LOW OPEN will not be as close. With a couple other tough matches in the first half of the season, tony jawk will want to start out strong to avoid having to ride the playoff bubble later on.
our match will be close with #5 but we aren't listed in the top 16
it's because i have pwn in my name isnt it
-jog
-read books
-work towards at least 1 goal (get good at drawing, make new friends, that kind of thing)
-roadtrip with friends spontaneously (a bit expensive but the most fun you'll ever have)
-join a thing that you haven't been a part of before (local magic the gathering group, school camps/ counselling school camps, other clubs, etc)
-brush your teeth more than you would during the not-summer (and enjoy beautiful shininess)
-cook all your meals from scratch, it tastes better and is healthier (l8r added sugars)
-if you have grandparents/ other older family nearby do their yard work and make their week
do as much stuff as you can fit in a day. never EVER have an excuse to be bored for the rest of the summer, starting now.
GO GO GO FUN FUN FUN
vibhavpSuggestions?
Not a suggestion so much as it is a concern.
So I love the not-miss-a-thing camera stuff that Europe/Non-ESEA stuff has, but I'm not a huge fan of the auto-camera thing. I think there's a much more personal touch that a manned-camera operation has, especially with things pertaining to casted games.
No bot will be able to frame the gameplay into a story that matches a caster's calls. That's something that you have to watch out for with this sort of thing. I learned first-hand at GXL that "capture everything on the killfeed best I can" isn't always the best approach. It leads to some jagged transitions (for example, spectating BLU's flank getting picks then switching over to watch RED's pocket hit an airshot).
That combined with the eventual predictability of it are why I'm not the biggest fan. This is shown more in HL than anything else. "Oh the camera switched to him, what will he do... oh nice (backstab/headshot/airshot)"
Production has come a long way in the past year, and the cheat feed is absolutely amazing for capturing the biggest of plays. But I honestly like watching camerawork that's unassisted by the cheat feed more, it's much more unpredictable. I'm watching a tf2 game, not a frag video.
Who knows, I may be completely wrong and this will be absolutely amazing. And maybe you're targeting it as something not to replace the human camerawork but to supplement it. Regardless, best of luck in the project. I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do.
edit: just saw the "multiple perspectives" thing that i somehow missed first time over. i am now even more hypee
not too pricey considering it comes with everything you could need, and he'll set your server up with pretty much anything you ask for for no cost. there's fast dl on all the servers, and pretty decent ping.
i used to use tragic for my tf2 and minecraft servers. i've switched to nfo for tf2 recently because of some mumble server deals (i needed a 100 slot mumble), but my experience was a very very good one with tragic.
FranklinNinjaflatlineyea i'm on 1.2.4 and it's always worked for me (with the starting mumb b4 tf2 thing)Do you know where I can find a safe version of 1.2.4 mumble?
you can get all versions of mumble off of sourceforge
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mumble/files/Mumble/1.2.4/
just make sure not to "accept" any toolbars and you'll be kosher
