This is pretty exciting, and I'm almost shocked that this is happening.
The main question I'd like answered is, "Why now?" What changed? This isn't the first time the community has asked for this, and this isn't the first time something like this has been alluded to happening.

So, what changed? Why now?

Steel is a pretty fun map once you get into the swing of it. It's a totally different feel from standard stocky HL maps like pl_upward and cp_warmfront.

I posted this topic in the UGC forums & on Reddit asking for more EU HL players to participate more in the league outside of matches.

NA makes up the majority of the players and they have the loudest voices especially when it comes to changes or issues they face. I'd really like EU HL players to feel like they have a voice too. If you guys have any issues, comments or suggestions about the UGC HL league in Europe, I'd love to hear them. You can post them here, the UGC topic, Reddit or message me directly.

The more we know about what you guys would like from us, the better equipped we'll be to work out a way to make it happen.

This is last season's mentoring cast (EU only). We always try and get the games casted.

The Round Robin has a one day Highlander mentoring tournament that's primarily for people with little to no experience in the format that are interested in playing but have no idea where to start.

Register as an individual or if you’re nervous and want to play with friends, you can indicate that in your application form. From there we group you into teams, give you space in a mumble server, and assign you mentors who will help you work out a practice schedule. They will work with you and your team to prepare you for a tournament on Sunday the 7th of April 2013, where you will go head to head against other mentor teams in your region.

This year, we are opening mentoring signups for both EU and NA and are only open for another two weeks, so sign up soon!

This showmatch is really just a way of getting more females interested in competitive TF2.

I help moderate r/teamfortresstwox on reddit and frequent r/girlgamers and both subreddits were talking about playing more TF2 together, for funzies. Both to get a taste for a more competitive side of the game and to play with more females.

Personally I've been really lucky and found an awesome team of guys to play TF2 with, but not all girls have been as lucky as I have. If we're able to create an environment for ladies to play comp, make mistakes and not feel like they're letting thier gender down I'm gonna do that.

Each team is captained by my two good friends and it's going to be freaking awesome to watch (even though I'll be at work, boo).

We should all just, get along.

I liked it! It was like a bunch of friends just talking about TF2. I really like that kind of informal information sharing. Didn't feel scripted, flowed naturally.
