#1 The Riddle Thread in Off Topic

Because I'm bored and riddles are fun!

Here's my riddle:

1 is 3, 3 is 5, 5 is 4, 4 is cosmic.

Why is 4 cosmic? (questions allowed)

Bind everything on your keyboard, except for your 'W' key, to 'attack2' and proceed to forearm your keyboard vigorously.

I never said there was anything wrong with Mumble haha. I was simply stating that it could be a way to bring some money into the community, but if the quality/voice-latency are horrible compared to Mumble, then forget it.

#4 Raidcall in TF2 General Discussion

It was something that came up in a stream chat for SC2, and the streamer is a guy who promotes Raidcall every so often, and he just started doing it recently, exclusively for 'monetary' reasons. He only pulls about 1,000~2,000 (constant) viewers everyday, so it's not like it's something exponential to what all the TF2 streamers bring in everyday. He just started doing it, and hasn't gotten his 'check' yet, but I'm interested to contact Raidcall and see how their sponsorships work (if they'd be willing to disclose that).

How does it compare to Mumble? As someone who never used the program, I am just curious as to how the voice-latency and sound compare to Mumble (as Mumble has the fastest/best to date).

I'm curious about it because supposedly Raidcall gives out really good sponsorships, IE, the organization of EG pulls in ~150 people on it everyday, and supposedly they are receiving upwards of $50,000 a year from getting people to use the software/getting Raidcall's name out there. I know that we probably wouldn't get THAT much monetary value from it, but something is better than nothing as long as everyone is fine with it.

I figured that if this is true, maybe it could benefit the TF2 community in ways. It's just an idea on how to bring more funds into the community for trips and tournaments. Just tossing it out there ^^

I mean, that's getting off-topic, but it's a somewhat good point.

To that, I would say either we find a way to embed a version of mumble into the website, or we could see if it's possible to make a script that people could download, that once executed, would automatically add the server to your list in Mumble and maybe even connect you. To add to that actually, I do believe that there is a way to add your own server and certificates to a client-side mumble client and then you would just have to repackage it for others to download. Then all that would have to be done, is change the download link for people and it would direct them to our version of mumble, which would have all the servers already in the list.

#6 On PUGs and IRC in TF2 General Discussion

What Lange said.

The only question I would have is, once someone signs up for the PUG through the website GUI, how would the IRC bot go about adding another user to the IRC channel with the correct name? Maybe if you could make an alias for yourself like on TF.TV, so once you log in with your Steam, it recognizes you and gives you the alias? I guess finding how the two would 'mirror' each other would be the hardest thing in my opinion.

Possible Pros:
-User friendly
-Could be easier to promote
-Would actually help hide your IP in IRC (since you wouldn't actually be in it)

Possible Cons:
-Would people still IDLE in IRC?
-Too tired to think of any others

And I agree with Pie_Hero, if you want to be taken seriously, you should think about making a somewhat serious post. That's my 2 cents ^^
