xattuuHow well do you feel this Nickname reflects your online playing style?

this question is on there twice on page 3, in the box

a) Why did you choose this nickname?

and as a stand alone :]

think i edited it properly now, thanks!

kiler4funDone, I wonder what this says about my name...

haha it's a mystery :>

also guys, for "a) Why did you choose this nickname?", "How do you feel other players view you according to your Nickname?" & "Regarding the on-line FPS game you play the most, please rate how much each of the following describes your on-line playing ability:" please select an option for every representative item as it seems a lot of people are only selecting one particular option (e.g. skillful) and then rating that on the scale of 1-7. Thanks!

#23 A short questionnaire about on-line nicknames in Off Topic

I'm gonna have to double check what i'm allowed to release in terms of my report/data actually but hopefully will be able to share both for those who are interested, will be completed sometime next year (may-ish).

If all is fine i could make an individual spreadsheet for the winning/losing response sections :P

eeewhat if u have like 4 aliases?

you should try to relate the questionnaire to your original/most commonly used alias in that case (if you can)

GueqsTell me Mike. Am i a sociopath?

idk, all the results are anonymous ;(

zigzterFilled it out.

There were a few questions which I wasn't entirely sure about though, specifically the ones asking about what you think others think about your name. Did you mean literally just your name, or more the reputation associated with your name?

For instance, for pie_hero, would it be more along the lines of "horrible name what was he thinking, he's probably jello IRL" or "gorgeous psuedo-Mexican who is a lovely person despite being a Scout main"?

It's what you think others think about your name literally, so probably the former of your two examples :>
thanks!

AlkalineRight now it's "Questionnire" instead of "Questionnaire" at the top in the big black box. :)

Idk how that happened but it's fixed, thanks!
also as Air_ pointed out, one of questions had "Skilful" instead of "Skillful", that has also been corrected. thank you both!

fatswimdudesurprised there was no question asking how old i was when i made my nickname

haha well most of the questions ask about your thoughts now, so the time when you made the name is kinda irrelevant here, but if it was investigated separately it would be interesting :p

ilikesheepAs a fellow Swansea uni undergrad I guess I will ;) Although the only person I know who does psychology is a bitch

cheers! kinda knew including my student email on this online questionnaire was risky business..

RhettroVery nicely made, good luck, and if there is a way for us to see the results when you are finished that would be great.

thanks a lot! when i've written up the report i will link it on this thread most likely whether it gets published or not. hopefully will get some interesting findings :P

#1 A short questionnaire about on-line nicknames in Off Topic

Hi all

As part of my 3rd and final year of my BA psychology course at Swansea uni, I'm doing my 3rd year project on thoughts & feelings about online nicknames and gaming, investigated through a web-based questionnaire. The questionnaire also contains items regarding competitiveness and a section regarding competitive tf2 players specifically, since I wanted to investigate TF2 league participants and see if this competitive element affects nicknames, competitive values and so forth.

http://psy.swansea.ac.uk/questionnaires/792753/

The questionnaire is linked above and there is more information there. Some of the questions may seem quite casual, but it shouldn't be difficult to fill in and can be completed in about 15-25 minutes.

Thanks to all that fill it out, I'll appreciate it very much!

kosMGEMikeit would've been easier for us not to attend DH but we decided to go to not fuck over sideshow and the rest of the people going since no other team could be drafted to attend and now he goes and does this bullshitGod forbid you attend a tournament with expenses covered by the community that benefits the game that you've played for 8+ years and that you will most likely make a profit from.

we've had to change our roster several times (we'll announce soon enough the changes to our lineup for DHW other than medic) due to several different issues to do with how viable it is for a teammate to get there etc, which includes changing travelling plans accordingly. when we realised how much it would cost us we didn't want to do a fundraiser but we realised it could jeopardise the LAN and the accommodation sideshow booked (and our fundraiser is covering 1/3 of our total expenses fyi, of this money around 80% was provided by masternoob in good faith/a sponsorship deal)
