Vick shoot me a message on steam and I'd be happy to help cover this. I'm going to be around all weekend so we may be able to get like a newbie mix stream and it could help to promote to mixes too

cool idea sal. btw if you guys think you should have gotten one but didn't check your emails for the one from eric smith. i thought it was a scammer at first.
i had the same problem with one of my huds back in the day. i'd switch configs every time we played stopwatch.
it's just a broken hud issue
i'm so excited for this. stultus you coming?
i remember that when unusuals were just coming out I did a pug with Thrasher and he had the coolest looking green unusual effect. I asked him how he got the hat and he said he paid i think $20 bucks for it. I was like WTF 20 bucks for a virtual hat...I'd pay 10 bucks but hell no on 20
boy was i wrong
hey look at the bright side...at least it still says extv on the stream info
i thought we got in trouble if we showed it before it released
also fun fact: you can collapse either of those side panels to make the screen even bigger. and people probably won't have to show chat on their streams anymore.
leavesSo wait: this is all just a misunderstanding of Extine's original intentions? How the fuck is this a topic for drama, and why is it happening right now, so close to the event? This isn't even anyone's business but that of the casters. Discuss it together in private like adults, argue for and against the reasoning of Extine with Extine, come to a conclusion that guarantees the only thing the public cares about: that the LAN is casted by these wonderful people and it's a good product. All speculation of potential viewer numbers, half-baked approximations of "the lesson to be learned" by ESEA, or which platform is better for the game needed to happen way earlier, and now they are useful only with regard to the S13 LAN.
this is exactly the problem duder is talking about. people only care about the event being casted and not the future of eXtv. eXtv doesn't seem to provide any value to people. in my eyes though, it's a growing fanbase that is currently the ONLY essential, unifying organization that brings all of the casters and viewers together to one place for north american TF2 (oh and yes team fortress.tv but you know what i'm talking about).
alfaI don't get why people who aren't involved in this "conflict" are butt hurt at all
You are benefiting from a FREE service which those people will provide to you regardless of whom they are involved it. And what if seanbud promotes his stream? Are you saying it's wrong that he wants to promote TF2 since his channel consists mostly of TF2 related content?
Whatever the story is behind this (I can't comment on how they handled this situation because I have no idea), I'm glad they took the chance to promote this LAN to a bigger audience.
Regarding Vanilla offering better services, instead of shitting on our casting services which traveled all the way to EU to combine forces with your casters, maybe you could lend a hand and help improve them so everyone can benefit from them.
Also for anyone interested, I will create threads on both ETF2L/TF.TV providing casting information (mumble, etc), STV's, match times and brackets and update them as soon as they are available on ESEA.
from my POV, i'm not saying that what seanbud and co. are doing is wrong. in fact, i'm saying the opposite (go back and read posts). all i'm saying is, it was a win-win for everyone EXCEPT EXTV.
everyone is forgetting what is important here is that yes, sure we did get LAN covered by great casters and the event will probably go without a hitch thanks to their efforts. HOWEVER, we're cutting out our own NA TF2 casting organization in the process. i'm not saying it can be helped. i'm not saying it was the wrong decision. we're simply saying that it SUCKS and that is the point eXtine is trying to make. after all eXtv does for us, we can't even help them in this one scenario to ensure that our NA TF2 casting organization casts our biggest event of the season. It's embarrassing.
last point i would like to make alfa is that someone from eXtv does the Teamfortress.tv info every single time there is a match that is casted by our crew. you'll find it in the "upcoming events" section on the top left of your page and the page itself looks a bit like this
loljk...I can't answer your question in full because I honestly don't know what everyone has in mind for this "over-glorified hobby" and furthermore what we are witnessing (esports/livestreaming/shoutcasting) is unprecedented. Sorry for the long posts.
Not to go offtopic but I would argue that this has been done before by a small organization called ESPN. This "over-glorified hobby" is no different than throwing a ball in a hoop or kicking a ball into a large net. With time you'll see casters being paid to fly out to events and cast them a la Day[9]. TF2 just isn't there yet as we've clearly seen.
loljkI agree with wareya, I think a lot of people are over simplifying the issue at hand. The issue at hand is not simply that extine is greedy and other people are not. The issue is that by having casters cast for free, extine is obsolved of any bargaining chips he may have held to strong arm esea into agreeing to pay for expenses. I believe the other casters didn't decide to cast for free to intentionally spite/undermine extine but simply due to a communication error, where extine believed he had solidarity in his cause. Where as the other casters were simply unaware of extine's plan to lobby esea. So no one is at fault the only fault lay in a communications error where extine believed one thing and the casters believed another.
My only criticism of extine is that he could have expressed himself after his frustration died down. If anything he should have made the vlog but never uploaded it.
good points but the real question is: why does he need bargaining chips / why do people even need to be paid at all? it's going to be the same casters regardless of whether or not eXtv is involved. 6v6 is going to get exposure and the mge crew are nice enough to cast the event regardless of money
wareya#46: I don't see the problem. ESEA doesn't support the community as much as they should, why should the biggest NA casting organization do casting for ESEA for free? Doing casting through ESEA isn't inherently helping the community just because they're doing it through ESEA, that's apparent because ESEA doesn't promote TF2 or the NA TF2 orgs anywhere near as much as they deserve, not even for LAN casts. They're making business off of TF2 without putting much back into it, and then you expect NA orgs to bend over and help their business out for free?
because it's the right thing to do. we don't have the entire story but right now it seems like it came down to:
a) hold out for money and cast on extv
b) cast on esea-orange in order to create exposure for 6v6 TF2 and help the community.
we're just lucky that these guys are willing to spend their weekened in order to do the cast for free and entertain us. it's just a shame that extv has to suffer as a result of all of this, and that a deal couldn't be worked out between esea and extv. at this point it seems that it is too late for extv to go back and work something out with esea to cast on orange offsite, so extine is saving face and continuing on as planned.
Definitely and I'm not trying to give these guys a hard time. Like I said before, if I were in their shoes I'd consider doing it myself because it's a win for ESEA, a win for TF2, and a win for themselves. But we do have to consider the implications for eXtv. After all, I don't think any organization supports NA TF2 like eXtv does. Both for the 6v6 scene and the HL scene, which ultimately draws players to ESEA.
The only other idea I have is expanding the VanillaTV brand to include North American coverage. That's possible too.
Although none of this is possible if we keep solo streaming. We need a unified caster experience.
Hehe ok John will do.
I'm just trying to do what's best. You guys are the invite players and lead by example. If you look at the NA TF2 streams, everyone seems to be more concerned about casting matches on their own stream. I can name names. Tyrone, Platinum, Mesr, the list goes on. If none of the invite players want to back eXtv then be upfront about it. But we'll still never be as successful as VanillaTV alone, even if we have the better players.
VanillaTV uses Invite casters in their matches. It looks good. People want to support it. We can do the same thing. Yes, eXtv historically has not had the best casters (casters of the highest levels of TF2), but it's all we've got and I feel like Jeff has dedicated a lot of time to building it up. If he did ask for money for this weekend, then it's a different story but as far as I'm concerned he's done a good job of creating an organization that takes care of itself (we have schedulers and social media people and all sorts of stuff to get people involved). If you've got a better idea than supporting eXtv though I'm all ears.
I'm more concerned about eXtv than your stream. Although it is really fun to watch. I just want the scene to grow. And I'm not trying to shit on you I'm just reposting what you said on Youtube.
If we're not all going to get behind eXtv though, what do we do? Do we have a better idea?
It's possible that you did it for altruistic reasons, but it is also possible that you did it for yourselves. Maybe you're killing two birds with one stone. Who cares.
Point is, TF2 is still on ESEA-Orange, and I'm genuinely happy about that. As for the future of eXtv? Up to us. If we do want to make eXtv a success, we have to support it though by getting high-level casters on the stream channel. If we all continue to stream on our own streams, we can never hope to match VanillaTV.
Just so we're all on the same page, VTV gets 800-1000+ viewers on regular season matches.
