Random info from Day9 on stream, copy/pasted from the other thread:
- There are three game boards that represent the lanes
- You control 5 heroes, just like DotA
- You can equip item cards on to the Heroes that you buy with gold
- There are creeps that spawn every turn
- You can play creature cards
- Some cards are cast on the lane and have persistent effects on that lane
- Each Hero has abilities like their DotA counterparts ("You can cast track on a Hero as Bounty Hunter and get extra Gold")

I recommend making a new map base on the layout ideas from this thread, rather than trying to fix it entirely, also give you more freedom in creating
but that's not the main reason, the problem is : a competitive "pro" map is always an "improved" version of the map, not a "fixed" version, which mean that the map actually works, it just need some changes to be better. (koth_viaduct, cp_granary,...)
while what're you trying to do is fixing the map, forcing it to work, which is can't be done without a complete surgery (base on all the sketch in here), in that state it'd be better making a new map, rather than just "cp_5gorge_pro", also frankly not anyone wanna play on a familiar map (cp_gorge) but was completely changed, it only cause more confusing
