If a version of this was made. would we have anyone that would volunteer to test this out? i feel like some good points were made and we can tweak this enough to balance it.

MikeMatReal talk mocha, first impressions are everything and nobody I know has had a favorable first impression with you. This post, regardless of how dumb it is, would have been received way better if everyone on tftv didn't already know you as "the idiot spamming shit in the weapon discussion discord" or "the med on pugchamp that makes captains firstpick literally any other med to not play with you", and then even in this thread you immediately go on the offensive against players who have way more experience and reputation than you.
i understand the spam thing, but that chat was total cancer regardless of me. i was just eager to hear that point discussed so that was on me. also dont even get me started on pugchamp bias when it comes to captianing. and im not on the offensive, im just saying that i shouldnt be thrown under the bus and told to hush just cuz im new to comp. feedback from new players is what comp really needs!
distractionMochaSukhathe name says it all.
i know how the game works, and i feel like i have enough common sense and understanding to put in my input on something i plan on continuously doing. name calling and measuring power-levels arent going to get us anywhere. instead of just saying flat out no cuz "im new and shouldnt be listened to lmao", give me other options you think would be better, give me something i can do with my suggestion to make it better
knowing how to click on a player to heal is different from understanding how certain unlocks break the game and that allowing some of them at all (even with a timer) is going to break the game and make it all the more gimmicky are two completely different things. honestly mecha already explained all of this so if you just read his comments instead of just dismissing him just because he hurt your feelings i wouldn't even need to type this comment at all.
if you're new but understand how the game works and show that during pug/mixchamps and get a good reputation from how well you play for a newcomer none of this flame would even happen tbh; or even if you didn't know how this game works not pretending to know what you're doing is a pretty good way to start getting better and knowing what you're doing
also stop victimizing yourself i never even called you any names lol; yeah ofc i did the one-up thing with "power-levels" but it was actually to relate to you by saying i've been where you are???????????? and things get better?????????? and like please don't do this if you want to get hated on and get a bad rep from the start???????????? because a bad rep will make your experience unenjoyable if you truly want to invest time into this game??????? like jesus christ i mean you're the one playing the shit cards like "the name says it all" like lol my name isnt even retardidiot69 or anything please flame better
my skins thick hun, i dont get my feelings hurt. and anyone who plays with me can tell you how i am in game, and about playing it. youre forgetting that 90% of flame comes from toxic players who derail things for the luls.
i can say for a fact that i know what im doing, i know how to play, and that i see a lot of good things that are missed/lookedover because of people to busy circlejerking about where they are and hate change to the point where they see it as an attack
MikeMatMochaSukhai know how the game works
u sure bout that?
positive
distractionGeel9Mecha_CopVulcanAfter seeing this thread ive realized how fucked up this community is jesus, literally just bashing on newer players for having their own opinion, and half the time theyll just say "ur dumb xd" and wont even bother trying to help the player into understanding why their idea wont work out.
This would happen in any community. If you made a thread on a Quake/Cs forum and were like "U should ban the awp/railgun theyre op ive been playing for 3 months so i know a lot about the game" people would act the same way and maybe be more rude.
Doesn't make you not an asshole. Take responsibility for your actions.
???????????mecha explained why this wouldn't work when asked??????????????????? also most of the threads i've seen that were like "you're dumb xd" are ones where people eventually explained why something would never work so idk where you're getting your pessimistic, holier-than-thou attitude from. yeah sure people are like "you're dumb xd" but most of the time its because they've been playing the game and know why?
also i don't understand defending mocha when you're talking about a guy who heals an average 850 hpm and is trying to suggest things like he knows how to play the game. i mean sure there's nothing stopping you from posting but have you considered that instead of acting like something would work you should at least know how the game even works first? ofc people will call you an idiot. grow some tougher skin this isnt even the worst that could happen. when i was dropping every game like you are now you didn't see me fucking trying to suggest ways to make the game worse.
also if you're a newcomer to the scene instead of suggesting things maybe you should be reading up on what to do first instead of telling other people how to play and endlessly replying and arguing your point when people have already explained why it doesn't work
(btw why try to attract newcomers when this game is dead anyway and now steel-level demos can say the're the best in open :^))
the name says it all.

lazbut this would still result in a weapon change mid-fight, meaning that you'd have to always be conscious of when your weapon is going to abruptly switch on you. what if you're in the middle of using something like bonk atomic punch when the timer runs out: do you instantly become vulnerable again? what if you're parachuting in the sky when the timer runs out, do you just drop to the ground? why would it make any sense for someone on the tf2 team to program something so complicated in with so many different contingencies when they could be focusing on item balances and performance improvements?
you're right, a mid fight weapon change would be too much. i suggest something that changes the weapon when the player dies, or when that player runs out of ammo/resubs
laz[*] each individual previously-banned weapon has its own timer.
this is slightly less dumb, but still is not a good idea. disregarding how one would even implement this, it's really not much different from just completely unbanning everything. instead of there always being unfun and overpowered weapons, players would spread out the worst weapons' usages throughout the game to take full advantage of them. sure, there would be an added element of strategy in when you choose each weapon and for how long, but imagine how annoying it would be to fight a scout who you assume has a normal loadout when he runs away and comes back a second later with mini-crits and kills you instantly. this kind of inconsistency in video games is what makes them frustrating to play and is something tf2 should strive to avoid
this is moreso what i was getting at. that way all weapons can be used, but not to where they are overused. if that scout decides to waste those items at a bad time, making a bad play. his team would be punished for it with the next push or with whatever support comes to help the other scout. it really puts teamwork into play. the consistancy should be based around how well the player is with said item, not the item itself. and if that consistancy is major, it wont last long enough to completly ruin the entire match.
bleghfarecMochaSukha but if we as a community do what we always do and show them that we dont care that they dont care, and keep bulding this game. they will listen

lol what im saying is. regardless of valve and their decisions, the community continuously puts out updates for items, mods, and maps. whetever the game lacks the community usually makes. if we continue giving this type of support, im sure changes will happen. as like with the mym update and valve acknowledging 6's officially
VulcanMochaSukhaThat would be incredibly difficult to implement and i doubt valve would care enough to do something of this caliber for a relatively small communityleviathanHow would you implement this though? Like after the time, do your weapons get replaced? What if you're in a fight and suddenly you're having a new weapon. The concept is decent (maybe), but the implementation is hard.
maybe have the replacement for that weapon be stock until that person dies. or have it to where it subs the item with an item in a seperate loadout
valve may not care, hell they may not even read this. but if we as a community do what we always do and show them that we dont care that they dont care, and keep bulding this game. they will listen, im sure they have kinda been this whole time. we just want it to show faster than they can probably do. but im patient and willing to wait
Rollingthis all sounds way too over-complicated and too much of a hassle to implement to be worth it
i feel like it wouldnt be a hassle
-valve already has a code that we could utilize to test this out. and im sure if we cant use that,
-one wouldnt be hard to make. like with mge mod, dm mod, or any other mod. tf2 has a lot of talented people in the community that im sure would love to help out
-when the timer goes out, its back to reg 6's with whitelist. that way everyone wins. no harm no foul
as a test maybe we could have something like the firt 2 rounds are free rounds. and then the rest are back to whitlisting. at least until we couuld get the code thing sorted out

Cerdur say we ask them to make something for us where we can edit the time limit on items
if we're getting valve to modify the game why not have them balance the items we're pointing out are overpowered -_-
they might be working on it as we speak, you never know. but in the meantime im suggesting we work with what we've got and continue to give them feedback.
leviathanMy idea for balancing jarate is to divide the soaked time by the amount of players hit. For example, if I hit 4 players with 1 jarate jar, they would each have jarate on them for 2.5 seconds. Please tell me if I'm dumb, but i think this is alright.
same concept with mad milk
Also for the machina, if valve made the rate of fire and/or reload time slower, then I think it would be more ideal and fit the playstyle that most 6s sniper use, which is to just charge up and and go for one pick. At the same time, its downsides may make another player not use it, making it kinda balanced.
Ofc these are going to have to be made by valve. :(
just my two cents
weapon balacing is entirely up to valve, but they have shown that they are listening with the meet your match update with the nerfs/buffs. and those arent even permenant. who knows what they would do if we showed them the problems we're having in game, every game. i feel like we would get positive feedback as well as give it. i like your input

i think its funny how a lot of players are quick to call a player bad, but wont sign up to be coaches or give tips to put their money where their mouth is.
CerdurMochaSukhai mean wasn't that the point he was tyring to makeDirtyMorthttp://logs.tf/1610213#76561198073174991im new to 6's
this is clearly someone who has a good understanding of 6v6 and how it should be played
i havent even been here that long and even i know dirtymorts words should be taken with less than a grain of salt.
yeah im new, but 3 months of straight invite pugs have kinda given me a perspective on the game and how i think it should be played. also, scout is my worst class and i was playing that pug for fun. lol
