kounterpartsMouseCakeTF2 players who have never played in UGC Platinum or Gold team. Silver players are encouraged to play medic.this entails that people playing in ESEA are allowed to play
Our rules strictly prohibits players with ESEA background from playing. I will add that to this to make it clearer.
Hello Everyone! We are pleased to announce the Iron Pugs 2015 Winter Tournament, presented by EyeGames!
Iron Pugs has decided to create another tournament after our successful tournament in August this year. We’re excited to be hosting another PUG styled tournament!
Iron Pugs is a PUG group driven to provide a fun environment for lower skilled players to play together in a learning environment. We’re a group that wants everyone to be able to play in a casual environment while still learning about competitive TF2. We strive to be able to provide PUGs consistently for everyone to enjoy.

When is the tournament?
- 7 PM EST December 19th + 20th
What are the full rules?
Who can join?
- TF2 players who have never played in UGC Platinum or Gold team or have any ESEA history. Silver players are encouraged to play medic. Admins will approve players before they can join to ensure that no one is sandbagging. If players are caught registering an alternative account then they will immediately be banned from the competition and future affiliation with Iron Pugs.
- Current players who are permanently banned from Iron Pugs will not be allowed to participate.
- PRIVATE PROFILES will immediately be denied from participating.
- This tournament will have 8 teams for a total of 48 players.
Where can I sign up?
- Sign up here: Sign-Up Form
- Cancellation forms: Cancellation Forms
How long will the tournament last?
- Each match will be at max 30 minutes but with delays may end up with 40-45 minutes. Since there will be a total of 7 rounds played, with 4 games occurring simultaneously, it will be estimated to take roughly 3-4 hours the first day and will take roughly 3.5 hours the second day again due to finals and wrapping up.
What style of tournament will this be?
- It will be a round robin tournament. Each team will play another team once throughout the tournament and rankings will be decided by the point difference of a match. This is done to prevent teams from “parking the bus” after capping one point because then you will only have 1 point while another team that wins 4 - 1 will get 3 points (loser will have -3 points).
How will the winners be decided?
- Rankings are decided on the point differences between teams. At the end of the 7th round, the first and second seed will play a best-of-three in order to determine the final ranking. Third place will not be playing any more matches in the tournament.
What game mode is the tournament?
- 6v6.
Where is the tournament?
- NA only.
Can my team sign up together?
- No. This is a tournament for a PUG group, so in the interest of meeting and playing with new people, teams will be random. On the sign-up form, there is a place where you may submit the Steam profile of a less experienced friend if you would like to play on the same team as them. They must submit their own sign-up, however. Teams will be organized by admins and will be thoroughly checked to ensure that no roster has multiple team members on the same roster.
Will captains pick teams?
- Not in this tournament. Admins will be assigning participants to teams with varying skill levels (ie. a silver scout matched with an iron scout together).
How large will the tournament be?
- 8 teams of 6 players each, for a total of 48 players. Subs will be needed for people who cancel due to emergencies.
Is there a prize?
- Yes! Our last tournament had a
prize pool of $60but this time we’ve upped the pool! $150! 4 keys to each member of first place, 2 keys for second place, and 1 key for third place.
Can I off-class?
- Offclassing to mid will strictly not be permitted. Offclassing will only be allowed if matches are at a standstill. We recommend that players don’t offclass too much as this will cause problems. If you’re not positive that you’ve been offclassing too much then just don’t do it.
Will matches be casted?
- We’re currently working out the details with streamers and will most likely have a stream available.
What maps will be played?
- Maps can be found at 2015 Winter Tournament Bracket
PUG + Tourney group immediately deleted.
StevieIm playing In EXT tourney katieis hosting on 12th. Should I back out? I mean, Katie is only hosting it, so what harm could it do?
I would recommend just avoiding as much contact with someone like this.
If they're willing to pretend to be someone they're not and try to manipulate others -- what wouldn't they do?
I also back up Keylime's claim.
In S18 6s, I played with some friends on the iron vLgTF2 team and we scrimmed Keylime's team formerly called 2 Dimensional (Team page here: http://www.ugcleague.com/team_page.cfm?clan_id=16570 ) We scrimmed their team on gullywash and their demo was a ringer named Maqe. Nothing really occurred at first but then the 360 pipes and shit came in on our roamer and pocket, and we were instantly suspicious. Keylime at the time was not present at the scrim so he did not know about this.
After the scrim, I didn't really think much about it. I looked up the profile (private obviously) and didn't really go much more than that.
A few days later, I discovered that this Maqe person was VAC banned and it was all pretty obvious. I confronted their team and ended up with some of their players openly defending that this Maqe person wasn't cheating (Not Keylime).
Fast forward to now. As some of you may know, I help run Iron Pugs with a Bilbert and some other admins. We've already ran a tournament in August and it was a huge success for us and for the TF2 community. One day, katie appeared in the channel for the first time (We always want newer people coming in to play). I played a pug with "her" and I felt that something was off.
Looked up "her" steam and it was clear that this was an alt. ~300 hours on TF2 with 250 in past 2 weeks... yeah...
Basically nothing about this person adds up.
It's a huge shame that someone like this would do this kind of thing and give smaller communities bad reputations as ipugs has been in the process of planning something big.
I hope none of you have been tricked by this person and try to keep on guard.
Edit: immediately banning this person from ipugs fyi due to smobo's and terrycrew's evidence.
