#19 Computer Science Major? in Off Topic

I graduated and I’m on my gap year. I still don't really know what I want to study, but I’m leaning more towards computer science. I have a couple questions

-How open is a computer science major? Because I’m not too sure what i want to specialize in specifically (games, security, software design, etc...). Do you do a three/four year course, and then decide what you want to study or do you have to know from the start?

-I graduated with the IB, but I stupidly chose Math Studies. Is that going to be a problem when entering a university?

-How work intensive are the studies? Is it like medicine where you have to work 10 hours a day for two years straight, or do you have some spare time?

-To anyone who was unsatisfied with their choice of studying CS, why is that?

-How is class time organized? Is there a scheduled math class, that specifically focuses on the math aspects of CS, other classes that deal with a particular coding language etc... or is it all tied into one thing?

Thanks

#1 Anyone has the Asus G750JM in Hardware

For those who have this laptop, what do you think of it? Is it sufficient for your needs?
Also I noticed the 3D function, does that mean it has a 120Hz monitor?
Thanks

#33 Help me find my father. in Off Topic

I dont know if there's much more you can do, after having him filed to the police and tracked through the devices he was carrying. I dont really know you or your family structure, so i cant really say anything without sounding like a shrink, but you have to be strong for your family now until he returns, it must be horribly hard for you and for your mom and sibblings, that out of nowhere you find yourself in such a situation. I cant even imagine how I would begin to deal with that.

But in reality, you're for now the oldest man in the house, and you're gonna play a crucial role with supporting your family's mental state. I imagine your mother must be pretty stired up, and so must your brothers. Best you can do, apart from actively searching for your father, is maintaining your family together, helping your mother as much as you can, and making sure your brothers are going through this time healthly(not getting into trouble in school, not to do drugs etc...), staying positive and transmitting the positive vibes to your family members.

If you have the capacity to do that, it'll be positive both in the short-run, (until you find your father), as you'll keep your family hoping and motivated, and in the long-run, in the grim case that he does not come back, you'll have allowed your family to go through an extremely rough time, all while maintaining a somewhat balanced family structure, by helping your brothers develop until adulthood and by being present for your mother, who, undoubtebly needs someone by her side.

I truely wish all goes well for you and your family

Most car have a tracker integrated. Call the car company, see if they can locate it. Think by deduction;

-he most likely didn't commit suicide or any form of self-harm, as you mentionned #14, he seemed fine in the morning when he left your home. Moreover, he seems to have a full family and a loving and caring son, no dad would ever forget that

-he didn't check-in work, so whatever happened, it had to happen between 9h30 and the time it takes him to get to work. This might help you narrow down essential details for the police

-the notes he left means whatever he did was most likely premeditated. Did he say anything that seemed odd in the notes? Maybe a word or expression he doesnt say much, maybe a reference to an event from the past? What is the tone of the notes? Does he seem determined? Sad? Helpless? Mad?

-you may be able to track him through his car, gps, or phone, even if it is off

-do you own any weapons at home? I am not from the US so dont know the gun reglementation in Pensilvania. If yes, are they still there? If not a gun, did ammunition disappear?

-try to think of when he went to work, did he do something he usually doesn't? Did he forget something minor that he usually brings to work? (My dad for example always brings floss...) That could indicate you whether he was planning on getting to work or not, but then again, why would he have left notes that morning if that was the case?

We are all with you, stay strong

#34 Rap you like in Off Topic
eagletfpuddeagletfThere's a dedicated thread similar to this called "do you like the song" check it out. Might find rap in it :)

edit: But if we are talking rap, check out my mini playlist. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdIwCY_Tg9AETXHlACnlEqJhyCytCgGs1 Some songs in their have little to no meaning in it but I have them in it because of the best while others do have lyrics with meaning in them.

Not to be mean but thats a really white boy "i like rap dawg" playlist

Haha, that's fair enough your entitled to your opinion and if its not your thing than that's fine :) I just tend to like stuff that either has some meaning or a good beat haha but thanks for checking it out!

Here's a track that has both :) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Oqi2-dWCjz0
