Would some invite teams drop down into main? If that were to happen, would the skill levels in invite increase a little?
Edit: I'm dumb.

TekkArieTekk*WARNING - INSANE AMOUNTS OF STUPIDITY*
Bought a 144hz monitor a month ago, played tf2 with it for a bit, thought I saw a difference. Read this thread, found out I was actually still on 60hz..........
Have you noticed the smoothness now? You can never go back.
My eyes are melting
I'm glad I/this thread was able to help.
Imagine the possibilities if this thread was never made.
KlausI got a 144hz monitor, and I dont see any difference ingame. And the refresh rate is set to 144hz so im not being dumb.
How is your fps in game? If you aren't getting at least 144 frames per second, you shouldn't be seeing a difference.
PurpleShirtLast night there were coaches with one season of ugc steel experience coaching new players, that doesn't seem right to me.
Mind you expanding upon that? That really suprises me. I wasn't there to witness it, and there is a possibility that there was a coach with 1 season of ugc steel due to an admin's mistake. That's the equivalant of me going to a restaurant, eating, and than saying "This food is terrible. This shouldn't be happening." For the restaurant to do anything to please you, they need to know the details on why and how it was terrible for them to do be able to do anything and improve the current situation.
Same thing applies for Newbie Mixes. If you feel there is an unqualified coach let one of the admins know; whether it be through a thread, mumble, or steam chat. We are here to help you.
To make sure you are getting your worth out of your monitor do the following (if you haven't already):
Right click your desktop -> Sreen Resolution -> Advance Settings -> Monitor -> Make sure your Refresh Rate is set to 144hz
Ideally you want to cap your fps at 289 fps (Formula for most optimized fps is hz * 2 + 1 = fps cap). This is used to prevent screen tearing and some other stuff I completely forgot about which probably means they aren't too important. If you are unable to run tf2 at 289 fps steadily either get a suitable fps config that will allow you or cap at 144 frames (Which is what I do).
Lightboost is optional, whoever I am not a fan of it as it leaves a huge purpley-blue-ish hue on the whole screen. However, from what I have heard from it, it
s hit or miss; Either you like it or you don't.
That's really all I got. I hope this was useful to you, or at least someone. If I remember anything else semi-important I will edit this and add on to it later.
Enjoy your new monitor :)
phobiaSo my friend was trying to play newbie mix earlier, and he said it made him want to never play competitive tf2 ever. He said there was way too many experienced players and very bad admins.. fix it if you guys want more newbs to play comp tf2
As head admin, my goal is to please everyone, which increases in difficulty as Newbie Mixes begin to expand and become more popular.
Phobia, may you please elaborate on how there were too many experienced players and very bad admins? I can only help you if you give me all the details. May I also ask how come your friend didn't post himself or report any of this to the Newbie Mix staff?
buckweetI agree, made a post before the newbiemixes today with a similar flavor.

Although, tonight I had a great group of n00bs. Could be that I asked the admin to give me the most inexperienced group he could. Ended up being a 2-3 on process.
To address the issue of people just coming to play, and not being a Genuine Newbie: That is one of the reasons we created Newbie Pugs. Even though that option of just playing is there, many still remain in Newbie Mixes. They are somewhat genuine because they want to know how to get better at TF2, and also it's an opportunity to meet invite level players such as Ruwin, zbryan, thefragile, eldritch, etc...
Licor -snip-
I apologize on behalf the Newbie Mix staff for your unpleasant experiences in your first Newbie Mixes. As well, if you were unpleased with the amount of playtime you got, I recommend after 2 games to go participate in the pugs and use the advice that was given to you from prior coaches.
Please remember, if there is a coach that isn't doing his part, or a newbie running pyro to mid, and anything that isn't normal: Please report to someone in the Newbie Mix staff. If an admin wasn't being helpful or rude, report to me directly. We are very busy during the event and cannot be in the game making sure everyone is doing their part.
SneakyPolarBearLast friday zbryan showed a bunch of newer players demo/roamer rollouts on most of the maps, they seemed to really appreciate it.
We will be doing a separated event from Newbie Mixes in the future that was very similar to the format we did two saturdays ago. Look out for it in the future; There'll be a thread on here regarding it soon
If you feel I did not properly address the issues stated above, either message me on steam or respond in this thread.
As a final note: I cannot stress how important it is to report anything out of the ordinary whether it be coaches or newbies not fulfilling their role
Can caress you to sleep with his morgan freeman impressions.
Why isn't he invite
vileNoonaHeyo vile,
Do I have your permission to link this in the Newbie Mix Group?
Thanks in advance for writing this up~
of course! didn't think about writing this for newbie mixes specifically, but can't see why not.
Thanks! A good amount of teams tend to people just being together at newbie mixes, so I thought a formal introduction to finding a team would be pretty great. Thanks for the quick response as well~

Hey everyone,
Please give Shredder, MrPerfect, and our new admin, Leet the same amount of respect that you guys give me. They are a great group of people and I'm glad to have them aboard the Newbie Mix staff.
Have a good night Newbie Mixing :)
Feel free to hop on down to newbie mixes and see what a coach says what you can improve on and how you can do it.
Definitely a good read. Keep up the good work!
vileher level of dedication is scary. we would have half of the players fucking around in tf2mix while she keeps her cool.
Backpacking on what PT said^^
Awesome person to play with, strong medic with good gamesense. She serves as the backbone of any team she plays with, even in pugs.
Je vous souhaite bonne chance pour trouver une equipe :)
BUMP
Also added information regarding how I would be open to trying out as demo as well on a mid-high open team. Currently gone on vacation for 10 days, so please keep that in mind when scheduling tryouts before contacting me.
EDIT: No longer trying out as demo.
