Something to do with how brains are wired. I think it's called word aversion, and it's a somewhat irrational dislike of certain words. Personally, hearing the word moist doesn't really invoke anything in me, so I don't mind it. :)

It started with something called Touhou, which is a bunch of overdressed loli's flying around shooting each other with magical bullets in a game universe where the majority of the hundred or so cast have reality-warping powers.

I chose one from this bunch, and since her personality matched the demoman(my main class), I stuck with the name.
