#275 mge alts eXposed in TF2 General Discussion
Trashed gamers has a 2v2 server. I agree it's better then normal mge, however it's definitely harder to get a match going. Every server I see is barely populated.

I agree the couple of times i've played 2v2 mge it's a lot more fun, but i can never find an active server.

MGE in the large scope of things really means nothing - it really is just a practice tool in the end. You are always going to run into people that play outside the scope of "MGE etiquette" (i.e. counter jumpers, shotgun main soldiers, and sticky spammers). Complaining about it isn't going to make it go away, or make you any better. 1v1 will always make some people get ultra competitive, and in turn some people do get really good dm out of it. But when there's 10 other people playing in a match, dm only goes so far. Until i see an MGE league with an official ladder and money prizes, i don't think anyone should take it too serious. Quit complaining and just try to have fun...if you're not having fun then !remove and go to a different arena.

#165 ESEA S15 NA Open Happenings/Predictions in TF2 General Discussion

Not sure why everyone thinks these "super" open teams will automatically come in and dominate. Most of these teams are comprised of a group of friends from several different teams. For our team, i know all the guys i am playing with, but have only ever been on a team with cringe...and that was like 10 seasons ago. No team will just instantly gel together. We've had 3 scrims with our full roster so far, and we went 2-1...and none of the games were a blowout. We've also switched players on positions in all 3 games trying to figure out who fits what role best since we have all multi-classed in prior teams.

I would also bet most of these teams are coming into open to simply have a chance to play together and have fun. I don't think anyone's agenda was to come in and wreck open teams just to be assholes.

#42 Dolphin: Wii/Gamecube Emulator in Off Topic

Been using this for a while, it's incredible. I have everything completely maxed in 1080p on my 680 GTX (doesn't even tax my card at all) and some games literally look like high end PC quality...in particular the Super Mario Galaxy games look amazing.

#106 What headset are you using right now? in Hardware

Got an open box Sennheiser PC 350 3 years ago for $105...best headset i've ever used.

It is huge, but has great sound, sound isolation, and the mic is crystal clear.

#26 120 hz laptops in Hardware

Pine,

Here's one on ebay right now in case you want to look at it

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUS-G53JW-3DE-15-6-HD-3D-Gaming-Laptop-i7-6GB-GTX460M-1-5G-750G-Win7-BD-DVDRW-/281132672227?pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item4174d024e3

You can still find one cheaper than that if you're patient. I played TF2 on it at medium settings and even on 32 man servers i stayed above 100fps. I went ahead and used chris FPS and then i never dropped under 150. I also liked it because as i mentioned it was the only 15' 120hz laptop i know of, so it didn't feel like i was lugging around a suitcase (as with the Alienware). It's still bigger and heavier than your standard 15' laptop, but that's because of the fan design (and technology inside), which works very well i might had.

If you want a laptop just to play source games with 120hz, than this is it. If you want to a 120hz laptop that will play both source and next gen games (BF4, GTA V etc) then i'd go with an Alienware or Sager/Malibal, as you can get 120hz and customize the graphics card. Just be aware you will pay your max which is $2000...see link below.

smakersI picked up an Alienware M17x R3 about 2 years ago via a Dell business account that yields hefty discounts. It would probably topple the $2000 request without the discounts, but it's been great, and it can run TF2 pubs at well over 500 fps in 1080p with 120hz. The non-gaming battery life is a little over 2 hours. I am fairly certain it is weighs less than a mack truck, but I'd have to measure to be sure.

Agreed - i had M17x R3 with a 580m GTX with the 120hz screen and it was an absolute monster. Alot of people make fun of Alienware now just because dell owns them, but they are still solid machines (just horribly overpriced if you buy brand new).

I will say however, the best bang for your buck is the Asus G53JW-3D. I bought one off ebay for $650. It has an i7, 460m gtx, and a 15' 120hz screen. As far as i know, it's the only 15' screen laptop with a 120hz screen. The only downside, if it bothers you, is the resolution is capped at 1366x768. It did absolutely everything i wanted it to do as far as gaming is concerned, which was play source games smoothly.

BLoodSireI still have some tfc demos, and I plan to start up streaming again since I'm back from vaca, so I might load up tfc and take a look at them soon. 2 of the demos I have were from when they called me a cheater and I had to submit them, so those could be fun

blood if you can get any TFC demos working please let me know. I played a few pickups last month, and tried to load some of my demos and nothing worked. I have over 6 gigs of match demos all the way back to 2001...would love to know if there's a way to get any of those to load

Also, from what i caught yesterday sheep was doing insane.

I remember watching this hltv - he hit absolutely everything with like a 300 ping.

#56 qf is just a scapegoat in TF2 General Discussion
eh, what would have happened if he got a headshot on the medic who had uber? same result.

not really a valid concern imho

Except QF is not uber (nor would a sniper be aiming at an uber medic...)

The medic may not be invincible but they are incredibly hard to drop. Seriously that's 450 dmg from one player in a matter of seconds. The medic is able to re-heal the full buff within a second between each headshot.

There is no major risk to running QF at the moment in it's current state, and if it wasn't banned i would see no reason not to use it more often then uber/kritz. Like i said, i like QF and personally i wouldn't have voted for the ban. However, i do believe it needs to be tweaked for more of a balance that the other medi guns have.

#51 qf is just a scapegoat in TF2 General Discussion

The QF wasn't the sole cause of that match being so stalemated. When you have 2 teams of incredibly close skill/experience in a situation where it is better to play safe, the QF was just the cherry on top of an already slow pace. When money/titles are on the line, teams will play more cautious regardless of the medi gun being used (see enigma's examples). A semi-decent counter for QF is running a heavy due to concentrated dmg output....the problem being the heavy's speed of course. Gullywash last is hard to push as is...watching a heavy push last, or the dreaded heavy vs heavy at last + QF was just painful to see.

The QF has a lot of viable features that i'd love to see stay. The quick overheal and the reduced knockback (which correct me if i'm wrong, is finally a nice counter to being gayed by a pyro at choke points - which i hate seeing even more than heavy's) are great adds. The best part in my opinion is the increased movement it gives the medic. This allows for an entire new style to play the class - the medic can choose to be aggressive or defensive with many more options while healing different classes. This is the best change the game has seen in quite sometime imo.

What i personally don't like, is the insane superheal it gives the medic. It does appear to be overpowered in it's current state. Having to have 2 or 3 people focus the medic to try and kill him (only to fail) is pretty insane...especially while having to fight whoever is getting flashed with the QF uber.

Remember this video??

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBJnfB7O9qw&hd=1

I mean the guy domes the medic 3 times in 5 seconds and he doesn't die...that's just crazy lol. A good fix to this is either cap the medic's health (no overheal to med with quickfix and retain heal speed), or reduce the heal speed to the medic during QF uber. Krtiz is a counter, but the current QF charge speed (added with the fast heals) can allow the QF team to play ultra aggressive and get to a med much easier before the kritz is charged...especially if they know the team is running kritz (just takes 1 good call at mid). The team running QF will almost always have the advantage.

I don't necessarily agree with the ban, but i can understand where some people are coming from. Everyone freaked out after 1 match, which really should not have been judged as the sole example. I would love to see the weapon tweaked as it can really add an entire new dimension to competitive play.

#64 Help Huey in TF2 General Discussion

Asking the community to help for charity or an event is one thing, but advertising to basically buy him a new computer is honestly not the way to go. You would have been better off reaching out to trustworthy friends of yours/his on steam to see if anyone could help. Making these threads will just start a bad trend, and really, who knows if it's a scam.

Good example - yz's pc literally exploded 2 seasons ago. He told all of us on the team, and without even asking for help we all decided to kick in and help him get new parts. He could have spammed the community for donations (and probably would have got alot) but chose not to.
