you can always try your luck at europe MGE servers (i know a few kick for high ping...but most shouldn't). Getting used to dm'ing at 180-230 ping and then getting to play at much lower ping has some advantages. At the least you can easily get some practice in as people should be playing around that time.

redbanSince you know what you're doing in the map department, can you tell me if this would be possible? It's a map I invisioned and been wanting to play for a while.
It's MGE style 1v1, maybe a little bit bigger, and the floor acts like a trampoline, so you bounce back up every time you hit it. To be used for 1v1 airshot practice. Is it possible, doc?
That sounds fun.
Its possible but source is pretty turrible for making proper jump pads. I can probably make something like that pretty quickly if noone else jumps on it.

tf2wh is pretty awesome...a lot easier to get a few items you want rather than having to deal with the trading sites.
hey guys, so since about 2-3 weeks my tf2 has been stuttering (skipping frames), i was wondering how i could fix it since its really hindering how well i can do in-game and it makes the game much less enjoyable
some more info: i get at least a consistent 120 fps, i recently changed max-pre rendered frames to 1 about 2-3 weeks ago but i dont see how this could be the root of the problem.
I assume you've tried returning the setting to the default? The timing matches up and it involves frame rendering. Why wasn't your first thought to change it back?
For others- Do you guys get sound hitching with the stuttering?
1.) As a test, disable/uninstall your sound card/driver and test if the stuttering stops. If it does, get a program like driver sweeper and completely wipe your audio drivers and try to do a clean install. You may need to boot into safe mode to re-install it to prevent windows from installing drivers on it's own. I had to mess around with that a bunch to stop windows from installing what appeared to be some conflicting or duplicate drivers. You're going to have to test multiple scenarios (i.e. using windows automatically installed driver, if that doesn't work, uninstall and clear it out again, reboot in safe mode and install the latest driver from manufacturer's site). Check out your device manager after it's installed and make sure there's not multiple audio devices.
If disabling your sound card fixed it, but enabling it and trying to clean up the drivers didn't, Do the regedit bandaid fix to reduce sound stuttering.
* Open regedit
* Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile
* There will be an entry for network performance throttling, default value is 10; set it to FFFFFFFF hex (willl look like 0xFFFFFFFF to the right of the entry)
* Reboot

3) still not working? reseat your audio card if it's external, and try a different PCI or PCI-e slot (whichever interface your card is).
If that doesn't work, one random thing that may have helped me (I'm too scared to mess around with it now that my multi-year stuttering issues are fixed) was moving my keyboard from USB to PS/2. It probably wasn't the solution as I was trying many fixes with the audio drivers at the same time, but I have an older system and who knows, maybe it has issues handling a lot of USB traffic with the overclocked system and specific configuration I have. Having troubleshooted system and software issues for like 20 years, sometimes it's random shit like that that ends up being the problem.
"the latest one out" could mean anything. What are the specs
Quite possibly one of the funniest clan names I've seen. If I was able to clan I'd want to join on that basis alone. :) Good luck!
no hats needed, I enjoy helping where I can as I know how frustrating it can be.
I'm usually not online until like 8pm+ PST on the weekdays but feel free to hit me up if you see me. Otherwise I will shoot you a message on steam when I'm on.
I don't recommend game booster, it's not necessary and is just another process to run, it lowered my fps when I tried it previously.
ccc.exe = catalyst control center, right? I don't know who ATI's programmers are, but I have so many issues when that program gets installed. It causes display glitches, takes up a bunch of resources when it shouldn't be (I suspect it's creating some kind of conflicts with drivers...) and makes my computer chug more than it should.
I recommend completely uninstalling catalyst control center and especially uninstall the drivers for your video card to start from a clean slate. (goto control panel and add/remove programs..or whatever they call it now) . I can give you a more detailed walkthrough if you need.
Reboot and windows will install the latest display driver (you can check the version if you're concerned it's not the latest...when I've done it windows finds the latest catalyst driver without the control center crap that causes so many issues with my system)
Simply doing that fixed some big problems I was experiencing with ccc.exe taking up so much resources.
That is just one thing to try.
What are your system specs? i.e. CPU and graphics card.
Also, do you get any sound looping when you play?
try to get your hands on a demo from the perspective of your opponent(i.e. stv) and watch yourself through their eyes. You may be able to pick up on things you do (movement in particular) that you didn't fully realize when you see your play from the other team's perspective.
my advice is to goto the lowest sensitivity you can that still allows you to pull off a 180 flick rjump or track enemies at least 180 degrees comfortably.
What that is is going to depend greatly on how you grip your mouse, size of mousepad, if your keyboard is in the way etc.
I find when speccing a lot of lower players that they seem to have sensitivities that are either way to high (no precision and they are overcorrecting everywhere), or way too low (can't track fast movement well, get disoriented).
Some of that is they just don't have enough precision regardless, but I think a lot could be improved by using a more sensible sensitivity.
2sy_morphiendwash your hands under warm water before playing
TFC clanmate long time ago revealed he would microwave two pieces of bread to warm up his hands before matches. Still makes me laugh, but he absolutely dominated people and was probably the top player in the game when he cared about it. He probably still did it when he was playing TF2 at the top level. White bread must have been the secret.
number 5 in the last 2 months for SSD failures?? what drives are these?
yz50 demo...so I can justify getting triple air piped all the time and losing as soldier vs his no sticky demo in mge. I NEED THIS
sounds like a possible driver conflict. Uninstall your drivers, then to be sure you remove everything using a program like driver sweeper to get rid of any remnants. Reboot then install the drivers in safe mode. I ran into a similar problem with my 7850...took a while to get it right.
Also download "Furmark" to test your video card, it can give you an idea if it's performing as it should since that program can max out the video card without requiring the CPU to do much.
Note: sounds like you are overclocking your GPU, may not want to have it OC'ed when running furmark...monitor temps carefully!
