SpaceGhostsCoffeeThe screenshots remind of the aesthetic of Season in CS:GO, in a good way. Looks visually great, hopefully it's not too hard on people fps-wise.

Shouldn't be hard on people at all. I spent a LOT of time optimizing the map, so that things would render effectively and efficiently. If you're worried about it running like Sunshine does, it's much better than that - I promise. I've learned a lot.

Changelog:
• Detailed the map.
• Various geometry changes across the entire map due to detailing
• Opened up little shutter door into second (the top entrance) from 96x128u to 136x160u (a 42% increase in width, a 25% increase in hight)
• Widened the playspace of the platform immediately outside little shutter door.
• Added detail railings on either side of small slope in lobby (does not affect play)
• Filled in holes on small ramps up to mid.
• Changed glass texture on barriers at last to a more noticeable green texture.
• Moved pillars on left (relative to defenders) side of last in to give more space for spam into sentry nests
• Slightly moved around various geometry to allow for easier spam angles on sentry nests over the whole of last
• Removed barrel prop on far right (rel. to def.) side of last
• Nobuilded the top of every prop in last.
• Added health-ammo pair on lowground in lobby – added detail railings nearby

Surprise!

Beta 1. It's coming. Away goes the old, dreary theme of the map and in comes something bright, clean - and new.

I've distributed prerelease versions to a handful of people. Officially, Beta 1 should come out very shortly.

Now for the exciting bit: B4nny will be streaming, LIVE, running around & commenting on the prerelease build. No telling when exactly - but it's tonight, and it'll be during his stream. I know a lot of you might have varying opinions of him, but I figured it was a good way to give the map a little exposure and a little hype. Come visit when he goes live: https://www.twitch.tv/b4nny

I believe that the snake was not made by chojje, so he needs a permission from the person who made it in order to avoid unfair use.

The snakes were removed by valve for space reasons (???). Valve already agreed to bring back the sky so maybe I can get the snakes back in too!

The reasons behind that at the time is that, when snakewater was bought, valve would buy any custom assets included and make them stock - which explains why they didn't want you to include custom assets. Nowadays, they don't make custom assets stock, and keep them packed in the map file, which is much more space efficient with their new map compression methods. I'd imagine you can get the snakes back in, easy.

Thank you for all the feedback, especially the POV of your game, lucrative. I'm expecting an a5 out in the next few weeks, hopefully I can get more a4 pugs played and more feedback - and more demos, especially, before a5 comes out.

Hitting "start search" in the competitive matchmaking screen crashes my game, though. So that's fun. Right, that's the PREC glitch, if you have PREC installed it does that. Working fine now after I've removed it.

If you're going for a pro version at least keep the old visuals. I can't see how the alpine textures improve anything at all besides making it look out of place as hell. Plus, if this ever gets any real attention, it's going to create a lot of drama around the unnecessarily changed styling.

I know there's the ESEA and ETF2L seasons going on right now which is why this hasn't got much (if any) testing, but I'm just sending out a reminder for anyone who wants to feedback this/pug it/whatever. I can't exactly update or detail this without player feedback, especially since a4 was such a huge update.

Quick mention/shameless plug, Sunshine works pretty well in pubs - it's spacious and I've played it in such an environment numerous times before. Just bringing it up since it wasn't really mentioned in the other thread or in the map straw poll.

Nice to see another server running at least some rotation with custom maps, though. Will try to play if I can.
