brownymasterI think you should just carefully read the config instructions. It's all in there.
Also, you should have looked up dxlevels working on Mac's, because they don't. Expected, because DirectX is for Windows.
Also, would it kill you to spell it uber?

sinnerYour phrasing is awkward. I don't know whether you DO want ubers shiny or DONT want ubers shiny. Regardless, the command is mat_specular 1 for them to be shiny and 0 for them not to be shiny.
