#90 Mix^ in TF2 General Discussion
KhakiPlatinum If the community wants to go to another league, go! We are only 2 teams. I just noticed this cracker jack bit of logic. If the tf2 community leaves ESEA, that means the tf2 division also disappears since ESEA isn't going to run a 2 team division. So what your post is really saying is, "We really like winning money and a trip to dallas every 3 months, and we're pretty sure the tf2 community won't be able to organize and migrate to a new league without the invite team's instigating this migration, so we're just gonna ride this ESEA thing for as long as we can."

Why do you think we win money? I've paid 380 min. For the past 5 seasons and the only reason I break even is because we come in second minimum. But to your other points, yes I'm not putting extra time into something that will fail, why don't you do it?

the301stspartanPlatinum, I'm sure top invite players are pretty intelligent, why don't you invest some of those tf2 hours in the stock market if money is your only incentive?
I think the incentive for some people might be having fun playing and getting better at tf2 and possibly win money, without installing viruses that send their personal information to ESEA and raise their power bills in return.

I work 11 hours a day to make money. My tf2 time, which is limited in itself, is for tf2. I get esea is sleezy as fuck. Who is gonna step up to make something better? I sure as hell am not, are you?

What else do you want? The fucking game has been out for 6 years sorry if most of us don't want to wait for some experiment to come along to continue having fun. Don't be such a dense retard.

noobiesPlatinumDitch the league, competition dies because there's no incentive. I disagree with esea and how they operate, but they offer the best competition because theres something to strive toward and win. If you don't understand that anything I say won't help you get it. If the community wants to go to another league, go! We are only 2 teams. Pretend mixup and it quit the game and operate under that facade. If traction gains and theres something to play for, I'm sure we would play. However right now it's a bunch of whiney idiots barking up a storm with no intention to actually change anything.
It's not about barking up a storm but barking up a sense of community. Many people are trying to collaborate to ensure that whatever league people migrate to has some standard (as far as servers, anti-cheat, website, which would hopefully bring in lots of good players, ensuring a standard of competition, as well). It seems that the invite players are just washing their hands of this, not wanting to take part in possibly important decisions. Instead it's a "you guys do it, it probably won't work, but if it does, we'll join after you guys make it work".

What decisions do you need from us? Provide what esea provided with all their outdated shit fixed and incentive to play that's better than them. You preach competition, make a damn competitive league and maybe you beat esea.

So I play a class that you determine is disrespectful and I get chastised, however you don't think it's disrespectful for ex invite players to offclass to something respectable and sandbag in open? I don't understand the logic behind that. If huntsman is so bad and disrespectful, it should have been easy as hell to push out and win the game, correct?

#24 exactly. The incentive has to be greater than what exists currently.

What does that even mean? If you disagree, dispute my point and give any sort of proof.

Community wants to abandon esea to join xx league for "fun competition", we offclass to have fun and prolong a match, bring out the pitch forks. Do you see what happens when there is nothing to play for? For the rest of the esea season, no matter what we do our lan seed won't change. With nothing to play for, fun is the only option and therefore competition dwindles. Even after a few minutes 6 cuties joined in on the fun because - nothing mattered - exactly what will happen if some new league sprouts up that has no incentive to try your hardest.

#177 The ESEA abuse thread in TF2 General Discussion

Learn to read. Never did I say that if there was NO lan would I quit TF2. I said the day I do not MAKE lan would be the day I quit. That quote was meant as like, IF I CAME IN 5th PLACE. If there was something worth playing for and someone worth playing against, I myself wouldn't be opposed to doing it. What I'm saying is that the competition won't go somewhere else just for the hell of it. Go ahead and make a league and prove me wrong. You won't.

#170 The ESEA abuse thread in TF2 General Discussion

I was going to make a lengthy post but clockwork pretty much hit the nail on the head. The goal of any competition is to be the best and win the best possible prize. The NFL has the superbowl, everyone watches even if they don't like football because it's the best the game has to offer, comes along with recognition of being elite. If ESEA dies and we switch to another league, what is there to play for? Healthy competition? Anyone can get that by playing a pug, MGE, bball match, whatever. Without a top prize/pinnacle to reach, playing just to play would wither the skill of the game and it would devolve into nothingness. If someone held a league with triple the prize pot of ESEA with no LAN, well maybe the competition would switch because there would be the BEST prize you could win. If there is the opportunity to win the BEST prize, people will try to win it. I could care less if I lost to banny in a league that gives me a mousepad if I win, I do care if I lose and then he gets double my prize money, regardless of how much I may or may not NEED the money.

So much for no lengthy post.
