1024 is my desktop res. I play on a craptop with iGPU (Intel 4000). The craptop only has an HDMI port and I'm hesitant to buy a whole new rig but the monitor is within my price range.

Running a 144hz through HDMI:
I heard an HDMI 2.0 can run 120hz @ 1080p and 4K@60Hz. Does that mean I could run 144hz through an HMDI if I scale my resolution really low. I normally play at 640x480 and my native is 1024x768.

Is it looping sound before/during the freezes?

I'm not encouraging or discouraging him. I'm just stating the merits I see in the particular laptop he asked about. Its his mind to make and he may have ulterior motives such as need a laptop for school or wanting something generally portable. I for example got another laptop because its cheaper and I plan to give it away to family shortly.

With an HMDI to dual DVI you might because to get 144hz to work. You might bottleneck on the splitter and get input lag however. This laptop is more than capable of getting 144fps with the proper CFG (comanglia). Due to the fact that its integrated gfx you'll get better FPS the lower you scale your resolution but with an i5/HD Graphics 5500 that should only be 1024/768.

UMM. Ive streamed for an hour or so every morning since i got this computer. I just dont record or anything.

I come from a pretty mil-spec family and I can say that its is a very smart financial move and they will basically throw you through any school your motivated enough to get into. That being said wanting to go to school for free is not a good reason to enlist. You have to be very tolerant of bureaucracy and very willing to sacrifice larger than expected aspects of your life in terms of relationships/time/fun. Its more a personality type than anything else.
