Pigbywhen you convert a lossy file to a lossless codec it doesn't suddenly remember what was lost compressing the audio, you just end up with a larger file that sounds exactly the same

Yeah, that's what I was feared. Is youtube's quality at mp3 automatically?

Yeah I try that. But can't the bitrate that it says be higher, while the actual bitrate is lower?

I tested it by looking up literally "the worst quality" on youtube and it gave me the same bitrate as another song that had 720p: 1536 Kbps

So I found this neat little video/audio converter that gives you .mp3, .wav, and even .flac.

But my question is: when it "converts" to a lossless file like .flac or .wav, is it really getting the audio quality? My fear is that it takes the same cut-off .mp3 and just turns it into another file type, being no higher quality-wise from a regular .mp3. Is there a way to find out what the actual audio quality is?
