Game freezes when connected to server

I'm having an issue where my TF2 always freezes within ~5 minutes of playing. I look at net_graph and there's a HUGE spike. I have good internet so that's not the issue. Idk what it could be in my cfg.

would i be able to make videos using lawena and such and if so do i need to change settings in lawena? or what do i do in general because im tired of recording frags with fraps

Some helpful things that I've found while making videos.
Sourceres
Made by Lange, I think. It changes your tf2 resolution so that you can record at 1920 x 1080 etc.
Source recorder
Made by hl2mukkel. Better than lawena imo. It records videos much faster than lawena by converting directly to mp4. It has some kinks and problems but you can overcome them. I'm planning on making a tutorial for doing that.
You can find them by looking them up on tftv.
