The Pinnacle of Music Videos

RSMVs sure have evolved from what they've started as...Let's go back and see how they've changed:

Show Content
time to shit post rsmvs

From the classic Luckybucket: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoV6jg2rxIc
Luckybucket was one of the first big RSMV makers and influential in this diverse medium of Runescape Music Videos with the use of his Player Own House green screen effect (Shown at 1:56+)

Following after that, the new emote "Air Guitar" was introduced into the game, as long as the endless possibilities of creativity in RSMVs
During the time, Luckybucket was still one of the bigger RSMV makers and was one of the first popular RSMVs to abuse this new emote: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4v-ThgtpO1k
The RSMV "Lay Down" by Luckybucket is a double header, because at the time the Prayer Book emote which you received The Great Brain Robbery quest allowed you do a preach and point emote that was widely used in different RSMVs throughout the generations!

Additionally, similarly around this time, Sony Vegas effects were being more and more used in order to "compliment" the Runescape style. During this time, B00merTwins became popular with his use of effects. One of his most influential RSMVs is "Blow Me Away":https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JnH4M8mlZA
As you can see, there are plenty of different effects already in use right as the video started compared to the older editing style of just white flashes, hardcuts and fades.

With the release of Runescape HD, it was considered an experimental age, where editors throughout the world would try out new effects and see how they look with the new graphics; it was usually a hit or miss but allowed the future of RSMVs to look bright.
I will use one of the less mainstream RSMVs from this time from the editor known as "Starrychelx":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjS4B82ew50

About half a year (which is around 50 years in the Runescape Music Video timeline), the flashy editing style came to be popular. RSMV editors like Johnnygutz and Tomigun1001 became popular. These era of editing resulted in many different effects flashing on beat giving RSMVs a hard-core feel like they've never felt before. Take this RSMV for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-H8Z5D836w

Around late 2009-early 2010, RSMV editors became aware of a program called Adobe After Effects or AAE for short. During this time period, RSMV makers began to more professional color correcting making the video seem cleaner. At this time, there were too many popular RSMV editors to count but big ones that come to mind are Dweller RSMVs and PlasticFunnel
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HS8BuXyWuHc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWJHk_n80iU
This new style of editing appealed to the RSMV community as a cleaner method of editing but still had that "hardcore" feel to it

During 2010, a giant breakthrough happened in the RSMV scene, a style of video known as MEPs, which stand for Multi-Edited Projects. This style would consist of RSMVs with multiple editors taking on different time stamps from the selected song. It is theorized that this style of editing was inspired by the three RSMV makers who were actually brothers known as the 3AddictedBrothers. This is one of their videos but it's a reupload as the original has been taken down (severe reduction in quality)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVY0FVlDy3I
This is one of the first big RSMV MEPsuploaded during the time (Reuploaded from 2010)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpAsutckT8Y
As you can see, it was a common feature to have their Runescape names in one of the lower corners to show who's editing this part.
Because of these MEPs, RSMV MEP Channels started to arise, the biggest one was called
"TheDivineOnes" who are actually still making RSMVs, keeping the dream alive!
https://www.youtube.com/user/TheDivineOnes

During the late 2010s, even more flashy editing as well as the white flash + glow effect that was used in 2008 was brought back into popularity by an editor known as AncientTales. AncientTales would use various effects to give off really quick flashy fast editing that would often be seizure inducing.
Here is one of AncientTale's flashiest videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-8hjJ08z_A&feature=player_detailpage#t=69
^ Actual seizure warning js gl dont die

2011 was considered RSMV's pinnacle time where the trial and error phase was over. It would result in "clean" RSMVs with solid looking effects. Big editors at this time were people such as Tomigun1001 and Matixpuls3 (who has taken down his videos, I can't see how he'd be embarassed by these things..)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbg9z8PHb_o
As you can see, the quality both in audio and video production has greatly risen from before.

Ever since 2011, RSMVs have been very similar in style and have not changed much

I hope you enjoyed my RSMV literature lecture

#2 LF Scout Mentor in Mentoring

At your level you'll probably benefit from just playing the game! :)
If you want some help I'd recommend taking a look at Marxist's 9 precepts of scout and Boink's scatter school

As for learning maps, again just from playing them you'll improve greatly on them but Marxist also makes videos discussing strategies and a general but detailed run down of each map and area of map (mid, 2nd, last etc)

Also good luck in steel! :)
