#38 overwatch butt drives man nuts in Off Topic
astrin_i just wanna play video games and look at butts at the same time, why do people need to have a problem with that

Me, too, but the male butts aren't in spandex...so much disappoint. I'm waiting for the introduction of "penis cleavage" and we can call it even. :P

#170 Stabby talks class balance in TF2 General Discussion

Random thoughts from a really low level player..

Sideshow's post (#149) makes the most sense here because it addresses the reality of MM. With no class limits, MM would meet thousands of angry pubbers intending to wreck havoc in a format that left them out.

I wish everyone could remember that TF2 is played daily by tens of thousands of players and the vast majority of these do not play 6s. I avidly support the desire to establish TF2 as a legitimate e-sport for elite players; I just don't agree with MM being the tool to initiate it.

Honestly, I'd like to throw the dictionary at everyone who uses the word "meta." Or maybe not. Meta means making reference to oneself and indeed, those using it are referring to a minute fraction of the TF2 population.

Leaving out half the classes and most of the maps isn't going to force players to adopt new classes and play styles, because many find the 6s format less exciting to play. It already isn't...the majority of us low level players simply aren't participating because we find it boring. What we were once truly excited for...now, it's just MEH. Again, that's tens of thousands of players rejecting MM, which perhaps was the point all along? Weed out the riff-raff?

I apologize for getting off-topic here. The main thing I wanted to say was this: I agree with much of what Stabby and Dane have said on the topic of MM. I think this discussion can be had without the personal attacks. Gaaaaaaaa, it's like Trickle-Down Trump. I've read so many thoughtful, interesting posts here and kudos to those willing to address these concerns in a respectful manner. Whether or not your message gets heard relies on how you deliver it. Shitty comments about players most of us respect or admire don't help.

I'm just popping in to say that regardless of everyone's individual opinions, it's great to see younger people have a genuine political discussion. It's one of the reasons I have so much faith in the next generation.

#1 [Stream] SilkPenny in Requests

I have been livestreaming since 2007 and am currently streaming primarily TF2 every day/night. While I started my current channel in August 2015, I ended the year with the most TF2 hours streamed on Twitch. As a middle-aged mother of five, my stream is quite different than others in the TF2 category. We've created a close and growing community of unapologetic pubbers, but also include lower-level UGC play. (We're hoping to have three UGC teams next season.) I'm very interactive with my "online kids" - we regularly fill servers and I work to encourage better players to give comp play a try.

RESIDENCE: United States
UGC: Seventh season in HL, never above Steel level, medic main. Currently leading a team of players from my livestream, all new to competitive and excited to be in playoffs.

I'm tweeting about it every day and the link scrolls on my livestream. It's not in my budget this year, but someday will make it down your way just to watch the fun. GO GO GO!

#16 Regarding MM and new players in TF2 General Discussion

Interesting discussion here. I spend a lot of time trying to bring new players into competitive and I'm not a fan of many UGC policies. While I agree that cost can be a measure of a player/team's commitment, it can also be a barrier to entry for many. I just wish better alternatives existed for entry-level comp play.

#21 Pubberlic Relations in News

I know it's a difficult task, but other e-sports have a strong foothold on Twitter. With Twitter, one simply cannot tweet often enough and it should be utilized for a lot more than just standard announcements. Retweeting, promoting teams and events...there are dozens of opportunities a day to boost your profile on Twitter.

I love the idea of expanding your content on YouTube. Players have an almost insatiable appetite for knowledge about the game and its players, so player spotlight interviews, mentoring vids, etc. would be useful and draw more attention to the channel. I guess I see the current channel being used as a repository for past content, which is awesome, but I feel it could be so much more.

#31 thoughts on finding scrims in TF2 General Discussion

Sorry for the necropost, but I strongly agree with this....

HildrethCan I just point people in the direction of:

http://scrim.tf/
http://scrim.me/

Also it's embarrassing to still see us insisting people use IRC because that has always been the way. It isn't 2008 anymore, let's start using these brilliant websites people are creating that do the exact same purpose but make it easier for everyone. When you're at the top you know everyone anyway, but when you're newer or in the middle tier of this game, it's a lot harder to do and IRC is such an outdated way of doing things.

I notice TF.TV use slack for their organization, and things like Trello. Meanwhile other orgs still use IRC and insist people should change to suit their needs, not the organizations should change to suit their consumers needs!

Oh, gawd, NO...he would win every time. EVERY time. :P

Thanks for all the kind words here. I've met some of the best people in TF2 through my livestream and believe me, the honor and enjoyment is all mine!
