#18 sports injuries in Off Topic

I've told this story on these forums before, but on my 19th birthday I unboxed a factory new unusual grenade launcher. Later that same day I fractured my wrist skateboarding. It still remains my favourite birthday

#5 PSA: Protect Your Hearing in Off Topic

As many people would put it, there is no concert, song or sound worth losing your hearing to. Hearing damage is irreparable!

If you're looking for a pair of very high quality, affordable earplugs, I personally recommend Flare Isolates. They preserve a lot of tone and don't muffle the sound as much as you think a pair of earplugs would. Infact I've found myself using them when walking near very busy roads as I get to listen to everything normally, just without putting my hearing at risk :)

#1 PSA: Protect Your Hearing in Off Topic

Your ears are one of the most awesome tools you have at your disposal. You get to listen to awesome music and talk to those around you with ease and remain aware of threats like cars when crossing the road. As you age your hearing will decay naturally, however you can prevent your hearing from worsening by doing things such as wearing earplugs for noisy situations like concerts or Mediterranean family gatherings and keeping the volume of the music you're listening to at comfortably low levels, whether you're listening through headphones, speakers or sound systems like those in cars.

At the same time. be sure to respect the hearing of others. Avoid yelling or speaking too loudly, even more so when in close proximity to one's ears. Warn those around you if you're going to do something which will make lots of noise. If you have guests with you at your home or in your car, be considerate and keep the volume at a comfortable level (a good rule of thumb is if you need to raise your voice to be heard over the music, then the music is too loud). Remember that some people might find it rude to ask you to lower the volume when they're uncomfortable with the volume, so make the effort to ensure everybody's hearing, including yours, are in good hands :)

Vlad whilst I agree with what you say, I'm 99% sure crabf was kidding and there's no need to get so toxic. There was another music related thread last week were you also went a bit off the handle about roughly the same thing. Just keep it civil my dude :)

this is objectively bad.

i wouldnt call this music. just because its played on a piano and hes reading notes, i would still say that theres no apparent rhythm, tempo or key that makes this musical in any way. might as well just play a bunch of white noise and say "look this music sucks".

What is / What counts as music? is another great music-related-philosophical thread idea but let's focus on the objectivity or lack-thereof of music for this one.

InternetIntellectual has a very interesting answer but I would still like to see what everybody else has to say

Edit: Strikethroughd the part where I was mistaken

jetzzzzzthere is music that is objectively good.

there is no music that is objectively bad.

This statement does not hold water. If there is music which is objectively good, then automatically, any of the remaining music which isn't categorized as being such automatically becomes objectively bad music.
