#271 Vent your anger in Off Topic
maxieI'm having similar frustrations with my tf2 career as well -- after spending some time back in the game this summer it rekindled my interest in competitive. However, I notice there are a lot of people looking and not many teams, and I don't know if I can carry the burden of leading and all the things coming with it. Just having two sides of that coin always puts me on the fence whether it concerning my return to playing the game. I'm just not sure I have the charisma to keep people sitting on their butts practicing for 2 months.

Get a friend to lead the team with you

And if you're thinking of leading a HL team, definitely get someone. It's incredibly hard to organize that alone and in a timely fashion

#10 Laptop for studies and future work in Off Topic

TBH, if you want something that's under 1.4kg/3lbs and still decent at CS work, you'd be looking at a Macbook Pro/Air with higher RAM (8gb ideal).

There are a few benefits to having one instead of a Windows laptop:

- Super light. Without looking at the other laptops you've listed, I can tell you that Macbook Air/Pro weighs usually around 1.3 - 2 kg depending on the model and screen size. Much lighter than most
- Longer battery life than gaming laptops and such. This comes in handy if you have classes all day and hate lugging around a charger cable, which is also lighter than most other laptops.
- If you ever want to do iOS app development, the iOS SDK is only available on OS X.
- Terminal - Linux has this, but also is clunkier than the OS X version in most cases. Windows CMD is really crappy compared to these two

The only annoying downsides IMO is getting used to OS X, and the teensy storage space. You'll have to get an external hard drive if you don't upgrade the internal, which costs a chunk extra.

I used Windows/Linux for the longest time, but given the opportunity I think a Macbook of any type is much more convenient for students.

#27 New VAC wave? in TF2 General Discussion
Decapotatoyahooany NA UGC people banned?
After the last VAC wave who would be retarded enough to use LMAObox for competitive play...

Honestly, you'd be surprised at how dumb people can be

I don't know of any higher profile players banned in this wave but I don't doubt there will be a decent amount in lower levels.

#6 Terry Crews in Off Topic
PendjiTERRYCREWSWell, I've gotten on average, 6-7 twitch followers per day, and like 4-5 steam friend requests per week, ever since he posted his pc build video. I haven't streamed since early May, so I'm ok with this.Did they free up your twitch name for him?

My Twitch handle is /TERRYCREWSTF2, and I guess the all caps is enough to make people believe that I'm him. Maybe I should sell out and edit all my info to pretend it's his TF2 twitch account.

#32 Olympics Discussion Thread in Off Topic

I'll be watching a lot of fencing events. My old coach's wife is competing in sabre this year, and I've fenced with Ibtihaj Muhammad (she's the first hijab wearing US Olympian, pretty well known) before at her home fencing club.

#15 144hz monitor in Hardware
sa3lence_Also about to do the same thing as OP, can anyone reccomend the Acer GN246HLBbid ? It's the cheapest I can find and looks promising.

Got it for around $140 off Jet back in December. Can't adjust height or angle much, the colors are a bit weird without fiddling around with a decent amount, and I've heard reports of dead pixels more so than other monitors. For half the price of the other entry level 144hz monitors, I'd say my purchase was really worth it, seeing as I haven't had dead pixel issues or any other issues. It also has a VESA mount that I don't use, but that adds a lot of flexibility not otherwise given.

#26 spicy food in Off Topic

Sichuan food is spicy primarily because of the Sichuan peppercorn, which has a distinct trait of numbing and tingling your mouth as you eat foods cooked with it. I'm not surprised that you say it takes away flavor immediately after eating Sichuan food haha.

That said, people just have different tolerances for spicy, just as they do other flavors. It seems you're the type to prefer a more flavorful type of spicy, so I would really recommend trying out gochujang. It's a korean spicy paste that is rather mild compared to other sauces, and has a pretty distinct and nice flavor to boot. You can mix it with soybean paste to dilute the spiciness even more if you'd like - goes great with white rice and meat, especially korean BBQ foodstuffs.

#21 Moving to asia, need some info/advice about tf2 in TF2 General Discussion
riotbzteejay has been beasting it in ozfortress prem tho

if you think you can do that, then by all means

Tee "40% heals" jay plays well in any conditions as long as he gets 40%+ heals

He once got 600dpm and top fragged by like 30 kills as scout in a Chicago lobby and still complained because I didn't give more than 40% heals to him
