KanecoI guess now with the casual mode quickplay they're going full on quickplay and not going back.

More than anything I think it was quickplay that killed tf2, or at least a big part of the casual community. I remember portugal having 2 regular full 32 slots servers at all times, well even after 1am, full of regulars all the time, and it's where I made a lot of friends and started playing competitive.

I agree that Quickplay killed Community servers that didn't specialize in something (jump, surf, mge, dm etc...) While I think what Valve is trying to do is amp up the competitiveness of pubs and steer them towards being more collaborative and similar to matchmaking, I'm honestly unsure how Valve is going to deal people leaving, and also is the server list not usable at all? Like can people not join a specific map if they want to now?

Not really, skial servers are highly populated

I guess you could call Skial, and Firepowered the exceptions. Along with jump, surf/b-hop, mge/dm maps of course. Just community servers that weren't any of those have been dead for a long time.

What FROYO could do is switch Freestate back to Medic. Doing this would allow them to look for either a scout or soldier, depending on what B4nny wanted to play/do, which either way gives them a larger pool of people to chose from instead of directly replacing Ninjanick with a much slimmer Medic Pool.

Spukinda odd how valve contacts b4nny and shares info on updates and gets feedback from him, but nobody from the cs team contacts any pro players on feedback for updates. I guess it's because TF2 is still in an early development stage, which is good knowing that they want TF2 to be big.

This and also because Valve probably has a much better gauge on the communities reactions in CS:GO. When an update is released, Valve can watch pro-players in real matches/scrims play with the update and get feed back from there, like the infamous Revolver they added.

Plus most of the time, the pro-players and non pro players are fairly on the same page. Instead with TF2, there is a huge disconnect from what Pro-players deem a viable weapon, and what pubbies consider fun to play with. I reckon it's also hard for Valve to gather any significant data from pubs as those are hectic as hell. Also if the weapon is OP, or for whatever reason unusable for compet, it gets black-listed disallowing Valve to gain any info on it.

I guess that's what MM is supposed to help change though?

You are going to miss some things like, sniper shots, de-cloaking of a spy, general noise that players make that would alert you to there presence, the general atmosphere of tf2 and also the speckled purple robin that tweets occasionally. But sure.
