#59 which medic main has the best dm on offclass in TF2 General Discussion
sdfgjdfgkhklfgdjfklest we forget shade is undefeated on pocket

OP was asking about DM though. If this was like "most accomplished Medic on a fragging class" that's different. Then we'd talk about harbleu, PYYYOUR, alfa, etc. who have been to LAN / won championships on non-Medic.

We should have an MGE tournament between all these Meds to find the answer!

#404 ESEA Intermediate S31 Happenings/Discussion in TF2 General Discussion

THE CURSE OF IM
With all regular season matches out of the way and the playoff brackets ready, it's time we took a look at the folklore hanging around the shoulders of the Intermediate division. It goes by many names, but most know it by "The Curse Of IM." The most common interpretation of this curse is that no 16-0 team has ever won the division. However after doing some pointless research, I've expanded this to all 1st seed teams and looked at their performances come crunchtime. And the results...oh boy.

Because ESEA is dumb and doesn't keep any team name history for whatever reason, I only went off memory and what their current roster name is. As such, some of these team names are lost to the sands of time. I couldn't figure out the best way to format this shitpost but I've listed all 1st seed teams by season starting from way back in the day, including their record and how they fared during playoffs. Because of the way the prize pool is structured ESEA has never cared to decide between 3rd and 4th so that placement "difference" doesn't really matter. Same with 5th/6th and 7th/8th.

THE DATA

Show Content
S7: CheckSix Gaming (14-2) -> 3rd/4th
S8: Goin' Heavy (16-0) -> 3rd/4th
S9: Whazzle Dazzle (15-1) -> 5th/6th
S10: Whazzle Dazzle (14-2) -> 2nd
S11: High Rollers Gaming (16-0) -> 2nd
S12: xensity (14-2) -> 2nd
S13: chill2good ratio (14-2) -> 7th/8th
S14: Knights of Grillz (14-2) -> 2nd
S15: Off Top (13-3) -> 3rd/4th
S16: xensity (16-0) -> 5th/6th
S17: Blockback Mountain (16-0) -> 2nd
S18: cafe monster (14-2) -> 1st
S19: Luca Goers (15-1) -> 1st
S20: bird noises (14-2) -> 3rd/4th
S21: dog1 (16-0) -> 2nd
S22: DBMG (15-1) -> 1st
S23: 130ms (15-1) -> 3rd/4th
S24: Dexter's Lab (14-2) -> 2nd
S27: mr_popo (15-1) -> 1st
S28: mr_popo (15-1) -> 3rd/4th
S29: HappyBOIS (14-2) -> 3rd/4th
S30: Excellent Adventures (13-3) -> 3rd/4th
S31: Six Paths (15-1) -> ???

ANALYSIS
#1 seed tendencies:
1st - 4/22
2nd - 7/22
3rd/4th - 8/22
5th/6th - 2/22
7th/8th - 1/22

As you can see, the 1st seed in IM has won the division four out of 22 seasons, a disfortunate 18% success rate. Though 50% of all seasons they at least make it to Grand Finals. You're twice as likely to get 2nd through 4th than you are to win the division. Shoutouts to chill2good for being the only #1 seed to get bottom of the barrell playoffs placement. Keep in mind too this was when playoffs were double elimination (one map per match). Oof.

The #1 seed didn't win IM until cafe monster did it Season 18 which is honestly crazy. They're also the only 14-2 team to win IM, as the other three 1st seed champions were 15-1 and we know how the 16-0 teams did... Speaking of, IM has not seen a perfect regular season since S21, when dog1 lost to eL cLaSsIcO in Grand Finals, ensuring that the 16-0 variant of the curse remains unbroken in ESEA. We've also never seen a 12-4 team as the #1 seed in IM, which I'm sure says something? about the competitiveness of the division but I'm stupid so I'll let you guys figure that out.

CONCLUSION
Perhaps the lofty expectations of dominating during the regular season are too much to bear, and what went right starts to collapse when it matters most. Perhaps the intense atmosphere of playoffs ramps up the drive for the other teams, allowing them to topple the #1 seed over at any phase. Perhaps this curse only affects ESEA and RGL / NACL / whatever the next league's IM champs will all be 16-0 every season. Perhaps none of this shit matters. At the end of the day, good luck and have fun. May the odds be in your favor, Six Paths. Have a nice evening.

Y'all remember ESEA and CEVO? Two leagues ran at the same time. One shit the bed so everyone went back to the other. The community will decide which league will be the premier one, we've been here before (multiple times even).

#37 rgb 4 shoutouts thread in LAN Discussion

WITH THAT BEING SAID, here are some of the really dumb shit people said at RGB4!

"This traffic is why we have biological warfare." - Spades

"I'm gonna eat it from the back to the front...like a praying mantis." - hedge

"b4nny's porn name would be b4nicate." - Gritoma

"Anything with a tailgate is a Ford." - sandblast

*scurries across floor* "hedge what are you doing?" "I'm practicing my rollout."

"Can I have the OMG BLT and a POG Champ please?" - trippa

"This whole ride I keep thinking back to the Asian Bistro where sandblast tried to get the waiter's attention and raised his fucking hand." - Gritoma

"Sometimes I get pissed at how my pinky toe is really close to my other toes, you guys ever think about that?" - saam

"I peaked in preschool. I might have had to repeat preschool, but still." - bear

#36 rgb 4 shoutouts thread in LAN Discussion

You already know what time it is: another edition of Tery's RGB Shoutouts Volume 3. The biggest RGB I've attended naturally comes with the most shoutouts so let's get to it. If I fucked up and forgot your name, miscategorized you, or etc. I apologize. Still reeling from the 11 hour car ride to be honest.

Shoutouts to TheFragile, Console, and the rest of the RGB Staff for another beautiful event. These LANs just keep getting better and better. The tournament would not be possible without these people so I hope everyone gives them the love they deserve. I swear Nick I'm getting a picture with you at the next RGB. Console, I didn't catch much of the stream but I'd heard it was a tough job that you pulled off so props.

Shoutouts to BLANC Esports. Sure, we didn't place as well as we'd have liked but I loved how competitive we were. With this team I brought 5/6ths of our ESEA roster here which is honestly a dream of mine as a team leader even though I'm just some mid-IM scrub.
Shoutouts to brian and hedge as the core of the BLANC LAN teams with me. These two are always a riot and we enjoyed more TF2, food, and drink together. Not much else needed to be said here, they got the bread.
Shoutouts to Muse and zanda for coming through to their first LAN. Finally got to meet Muse and I'm sure I embarrassed him all weekend but it's all out of love. And zanda got to experience Americaland for the first time, too. A mix of old and new, and both of them showed they could hang with some of the best.
Shoutouts to Crasian and Nighthawk - the cutest couple at RGB4. No matter the topic, chatting with them is a treat and I'm glad Saturday night was the chillout one at the Airbnb with you guys and the rest of the team. Shoutouts to Crasian overwhelming the McDonalds worker with his blitzkrieg ordering Thursday night. With he and Muse at this RGB, I've now met four out of five members from the S20 iteration of this team. Only Comanglia is left.

Shoutouts to Spades for all the near-thankless driving he did throughout the weekend. Going close to 24 hours round trip ferrying the Masshole brigade is no small feat, and I'm sure he did plenty of other driving during the three days there. Wouldn't be possible without you, brother.
Shoutouts to saam for having two a's in his name. After winning MVP at RGB3, he put on another strong campaign this weekend. From quotes to rap to margaritas, he is the quintessential LAN-goer and will continue to hold onto that title LAN after LAN.
Shoutouts to bear for being bear. Your personality is lots of fun and I'm sure that's why plenty of strangers / plebs recognize you no matter what country. Conglaturations on your LAN championship. Also, shut the fuck up.
Shoutouts to Gritoma, successfully hazed into the newest member of the Spades_Slick_Mobile. He fit right in with the rest of us degens. Thanks for sharing the knowledge of Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg with us. Also we found out we have the same fucking birthday on the drive back. How crazy is that?

Shoutouts to Makkabeus as the first member of NOIR I met on LAN. I loved standing behind you watching you scream your heart out as you played TF2. But excuse me sir where was this passion during S28 hmm?
Shoutouts to FrickMyNick for doing work for his team like picking up Shiny's computer and the like. We didn't get to hang much this time around but you know I appreciate you. Shoutouts to his computer crashing during group stage against John Milter.
Shoutouts to capnfapn for being the handsome devil he is, and coming up last-minute to play videogames.
Shoutouts to LsRainbows who I didn't even know was coming to RGB. We didn't get to play or hangout much but as a member of BLANC Lite (y'know when I hilariously played Open Pocket) it was great to meet you dude.
Shoutouts to Trobort, or as Crasian and Nighthawk call you, the "retard friend." The moments I caught of your guys' friendship were sweet and I hope you come through to the next LAN.
Shoutouts to dippidy, proud winner of my RGB4 MVP award. He follows in the footsteps of saam at RGB3 and tojo at RGB2. Just a genuinely great person to hang out with and talk to. Plus these guys had an amazing run during the bracket.
Shoutouts to tambo for being exactly how I imagined him to be. Stay hydrated fam.
Shoutouts to Frootloops and Nursey. Both for Smash Ultimate - the former even though we didn't get to play and the latter for playing me when I was in an altered state. Next RGB we'll play more.
Shoutouts to Sakura AKA Sakura #2 AKA a little girl who literally was my "woah!" moment of the LAN. Like I said to you, I was a big fan years ago during your IM days. Can't believe he came up to visit from [I forget where] just to see his boys. What a champ.
Shoutouts to SpaceCadet for not fucking showing up despite living in Philadelphia. Crasian and I are gonna kill your ass.

Shoutouts to all the familiar faces and friends of RGBs past (in alphabetical order to prevent bias): Alexandros, azion, bark, Beel, Bopper, boxcar, chompa, Digi, John Milter, meyy, murkscribe, Shiny, trippa, Yari, yerb, yuice

Shoutouts to all the new LAN attendees / I met face-to-face for the first time (also in alphabetical order to prevent bias): alfa, andrew, Aquila, Bilbert, boybilly (AKA Billuster), bwelp, clorg, cukei, fygg, pablo, Plaidinum (AKA Dat_Indubitably), sandblast, tatuwah

Shoutouts to all the people I didn't get to say hi to (alphabetical order, you know the drill): cafe monster, DonDorito, DubThink, eXtine, Freddo, ghadili, J_peg, King's Crew, phoxx, Sparkle Gang, Street Hoops

Shoutouts to all teams we played for always banning Granary and Metalworks against us. As a result I played two maps the entire fucking LAN not including pugs.
Shoutouts to cafe monster for playing on 60 Hz for however many hours it was.
Shoutouts to the wizard who cut power from sandblast and bear's computers during Grand Finals.
Shoutouts to all the people at our Airbnb on Friday night. I was hungry, ordered 1AM McDonalds and all I got was two chicken nuggets you fucking vultures. At least most of you paid me back.

LAN is always an incredible experience. This community is strong and we'll see how we tackle the upcoming post-ESEA world of TF2. All in all RGB4 was amazing and the fact we got 18 teams to turn up is even more amazing. I'm gonna hate the rest of this week, but I love and appreciate everyone. It's been seven years since I started playing this game, and it's always a blast. You guys are the best.
