Also, for those asking, the RGB LAN medals are not yet in the game. They will be included during the next TF2 update (whenever that will be). When they are thrown in with the next update, I'll give out the medals.

It's really just comparing q1/q3promode to q2/vq3/q4. The movement systems in all of the games are awesome and should be appreciated, but to say one is objectively better or what QC needs is a bit silly.

I want to make it known that technically, showstopper has dethroned b4nny.

drshdwpuppetFirst and foremost, every single person that attended LAN owes a huge thank you to TheFragile. I don't think it is appreciated by the average gamer just how hard he works just to get this beautiful game representation at these events. I cannot imagine a gamer more dedicated, more passionate about this game than him. Nick's only priority seems to be each and every TF2 gamer having maximum possible fun.

As an example, at the captain's meeting, right as we were about to head to our seats, Nick said, almost more to himself: "With this number of teams we are at $550 prizepool and I promised you guys $600 so I will throw in the rest". Who does that? That isn't his responsibility.

In addition, after my team got eliminated basically as quickly as it was possible to be eliminated, Nick went up to Kevinispwn and said "I want to do something for the teams that got eliminated first, stick around and I'll figure something out". Now I wasn't disappointed in our early elimination and I wanted to go hang out and drink so we never found out what that activity was, but just the fact that he was concerned about the individual fun that some shit team had at his LAN means a lot to me.

Nick, you are the best of us and we don't deserve you. Thank you for everything you do for the community. I feel as if you don't get it enough but know that we recognize the sacrifices and energy you put into this game and love you for it.

Hey, I really appreciate this. But when people come up to me to thank me, I always thank them right back, because if they didn't show up, then all my work is for nothing. Just show up to these events and have a good time, and I promise I'll be just as thankful to you as you are to me.

Also, that bit about doing something cool for the teams that got eliminated first: I had a few TF2 prizes to give away, like a Heavy figurine that has a code inside for in-game content. I wanted to do a little trivia competition or something, but could never get both teams in their entirety at once. After a while, I just grabbed a couple people from one of the teams that got eliminated first and did a little 5 minute trivia thing for the Heavy figurine. They enjoyed it and it was a good time. :)

Once again, I also need to thank drshdwpuppet for helping with running the servers. Whether it's the tournament servers, pug servers, or even MGE servers, he continues to be an incredibly important component to the flow and success to these TF2 tournaments we have here. I will never be able to thank him enough for coming out to these events, even when he had to struggle to take off of work or even when he hurt his leg. Things would be much more difficult without him, but instead, he makes my already stressful weekend a hell of a lot easier.

ps..Did anyone else find it weird that the bathroom labeled "women's" was the one with the urinals? I have to assume they were not working and the venue ppl did not want guys peeing inside them.

why were u in the womens bathroom..

Good question, the staff were cleaning the Mens Restroom at the time and had us use the womens restroom until it was clean again.

The women's bathroom had three stalls, while the men's bathroom had one stall and one urinal. We switched the signs because there's like <10 women.

I'm so exhausted and tired, but it was worth it. A massive thanks to everyone who came out. It was an amazing time and I can't wait for the next time.

Please pay tonight if you can, or early tomorrow. Please don't wait until last minute.

SpaceCadetnazarathe $5 chairs are worth it
Do that have arm rests?

No, but they are much more comfortable than the free chairs.

Also, I want to make sure that everyone is aware that signups will end at 10:30 AM on Saturday morning. Tournament will start at 11 AM. Register your team with me.

edit: for clarity, this is strictly for the TF2 tournament. You can still show up to the LAN whenever you want.

I'm on the way to the venue now. I'll check the thread periodically throughout the event, but if you have any questions, hit me up on Steam or through the RGB LAN Discord (found on the RGB website).

Or, yanno, just come talk to me at the event if you're already there. :3

I wish that I threw up in your car at GXL instead of Nick's bathroom (a LOT of vomit).

I wish you did too ._.

DollIf marm is/was really as good as you guys are claiming, I find it hard to believe that he's been overlooked for so long. Remember this guy has been playing forever, surely after all this time someone would have taken notice? He seems like a great guy and people have vouched for his ability to play the game, whats stopping/stopped a higher level from picking him up after all this time?

I think it's a mixture of bad luck and bad timing. A lot of the top teams have mostly consistent rosters and such. Even when there have been vacancies, he might have been edged out by a soldier with more experience within the top 3 teams. You could say it might have been about politics more than performance at that point.

If Froyo or Mixup picked up Marm years ago, I think you'd see him appear more frequently on top 3/4 rosters. His closest shot at that was when he rang for Froyo during the last GXL LAN and won, beating Ascent and 20b.
