Online registration ends on the 28th. You can still register at the door, but it will be $60 (or like ~$10 if you want to spectate).

lucrativebearodactylAnyone know if there's a way to do PC rentals? Not sure I trust myself to not let my desktop get destroyed en route...
I also would like to know about this, possibly flying in
We will not have rentals at the event. I haven't found any computer rental places nearby, either.
The first place winners now also get a 3 month subscription to https://www.ubercrate.io !
As I mentioned before, I still plan on doing some fun little things for some of the gamers who don't go far in the bracket. I'm still deciding if it'll be a mini-tournament or something else, but know that you'll be able to win small stuff, like a Steam game, a key, or maybe some TF2 merch. :3
Also, for clarity, the seating chart on the website is not actually a seating chart, lol. It's just there because it had to be through the lanreg website. You can select your charity that you want to support, but the LAN has no seating arrangements. You just walk in and sit down. First come, first served.
Make sure to register soon! The LAN is approaching fast. Don't forget that you can save $5 if you use the promo code: shrugitoff
Check the first post if you need to find people who are looking for a team.
GetawhaledrshdwpuppetSo umm, the hotel appears to be completely booked?
There's one just down the road still, is there not
Yep, the Hilton and Hampton are like 30 seconds from each other.
While I won't be keeping a team list this time around, I will update the first post with a LFT list. So, starting after this post here, post if you're LFT and I'll throw you on the list.
phoroforyo is there any information about computer rentals? ill be flying out and won't bring one
Dashner and I looked around for this in 2014, and I vaguely remember there being a place somewhere kinda close, but I can't find it now. Other than that, there won't be rentals at the LAN or anything like that. Best bet is to see if someone has a spare.
ShyloWhat are you more long distance people doing about your second ESEA match that week? Jugg and I are wondering if we could somehow do it that Friday at LAN or if we're going to have to try to do it Sunday.
I'd try to do it on Sunday. The internet is supposed to be better this year (Comcast upgraded the equipment at the venue and our network engineers tested it out), but I'd still hate to see you play a match with potentially high ping. Ping to online servers has been (mostly) fine in the past, but it's possible that you could get some spikes here and there.
Also, it's worth noting that I won't be making a list of players attending, because I would most certainly hit the character limit in my first post (this wasn't an issue in the past because I made the GXL posts a news post, which do not have a character limit). However, the RGB LAN registration page shows a list of all players attending with the seating chart, so you can view who's going there.
JugggI would totally be up for playing...but in a 180 person lan tournament, what are the odds that they don't get enough teams to play a tf2 tournament? Having been at lans with 500 people that can't get enough people to play a tf2 tournament, I'm a little bit scared that I will get to this lan and have the admins say there won't be a tf2 tournament and then be stuck with only other games to play
I'm not sure if you've been to some of the previous GXL LANs, but the GXL LANs have been wildly successful in the TF2 department for the past 2 years, gathering ~18-22 teams. While I can understand some apprehension because this LAN size is smaller with less of a notice, I'm still not worried. The TF2 tournament will happen, and I'm expecting a very solid turnout. I've already had numerous players message me on Steam expressing their desire to go, especially a lot of fan favorites that don't play much anymore. ;]
I plan to make this fun and interesting for everyone involved, no matter if you're a contender for the tournament or someone who loses every match. I have cool things in store that I'm still plotting out.
I do appreciate you voicing your concern, but I want to assure you that the TF2 tournament will happen, and that you shouldn't worry about a lackluster turnout. TF2 people love this LAN. :3
niteif you've already registered is there any way to get that $10 back or no
We are able to process partial refunds, but understand that we aren't in this to make a profit. All leftover proceeds go directly to charity. We just run these promo codes to drive registration, because people love to wait until the last second and it makes it extremely difficult to plan around.
Shoot me a PM if you want the partial refund or if you have any other questions / concerns.
Event and tournament info updated. :3
Some of the information is still tentative, but expect the same kind of flow and format as previous GXL events.
Also, there is a coupon code for $10 off registration. This code is good until noon EST on Sunday. After that, it becomes a $5 off coupon code. Make sure to take advantage of this before it's too late!

$10 off TFTV COUPON CODE: shrugitoff
Also, you can get a discount on your room at the Hampton if you book soon, before February 16th I think. Act soon!
If anyone has any questions about anything, let me know. Looking forward to seeing many new and familiar faces there.
SpaceCadetTheFragileNot really breaking down anything in categories here, but just things that stood out in my mind:
I've always said the European medics are fucking awful. I was never impressed by any of them, but holy shit, I was incredibly impressed by Raymon. I don't think there's any question that Raymon is the best medic in the world, and it's not close to being a competition there. His positioning was very spot on (minus a few times on Sunshine, but apparently Se7en haven't played Sunshine much at all), his dodges were insane, and his arrows saved his teammates countless times.
Are you talking current EU medics, cause I hope so.
Honestly, no. I don't even mean to do it, but when I spectate players / STVs, I gravitate towards medic POVs. Maybe it's because I'm used to seeing a heal beam on my screen, but I check out tons of things frequently from all medics. I've always felt that medics like Harb were much more valuable in mechanical skill.
I haven't watched Knoxxx in great lengths, but I don't think he was bad or anything. However, a common point brought up to compliment Knoxxx's medic skills was that he made great calls (and people used to say the same about PYYYOUR). While I think that's a great skill, that's not a medic skill. That's an IGL skill. I respect Knoxxx's play, so my original statement was a bit of an exaggeration to emphasize how good Raymon is. Still, Raymon is fucking amazing and is definitely the best.
Mirelin was always given a massive amount of credit for surviving ridiculous situations. When I observed such situations, I think it's highly up for debate on whether it was a good escape from Mirelin or just the enemy player missing important shots.
To say that they are better than NA medics (thank you for reminding me that I'm NA) is and will always be subjective to the person's opinion, so your reply has no objective difference than my post except opinion. I like debating this kind of stuff though, so hit me up on Steam if you want.
Regardless, I don't want to derail the thread on this. Again, I just wanted to emphasize that Raymon is the best in the world and it's not close, IMO. Looking forward to seeing more from the guy.

Speaking of Se7en, I think every single player on Se7en played out of their minds this LAN, especially Alle.
Everyone on Froyo had some bad maps, but everyone else stepped up to compensate. Most notable example of this is when b4nny had some bad maps, Freestate definitely made up for everything that b4nny didn't do. Paddie had some very notable performances, too.
Even though their teams both finished in last place, Marmaduke and bl4nk played well.
Corsa meshed well with EVL despite being relatively new to the roster. Everyone on EVL played solid, but still lost to EU in the same fashion as i55. ;_;
JT was certainly going to be the wildcard, and unfortunately their two tournament days just weren't their best. They had very good bootcamp the week before, winning close to 10 maps against Se7en while only losing once or twice. It's a shame, and while Paulsen said that'll be it for JT on the international stage, we all hope to see them again.
Get well soon, Steve. 3:

is this the number of seats 1:1?
As of this moment, yes.
