We have more time to secure the laptop rentals!
The new deadline to rent laptops is now January 7th!
As mentioned in the previous post, if you miss this deadline, I cannot help you.
The deadline to rent laptops and monitors is December 31st January 7th.
If you miss this deadline, I cannot help you. Please do not procrastinate on this.
YeeHawI don’t know about the lower divs, but prem/div1 is in a very healthy place right now.
This never matters, because prem/div1/invite/whatever will always exist as "the current best players of the scene right now", no matter how strong or weak they are. Prem/div1/invite exists whether there's 20 low div / open teams or 200 low div / open teams.
RendoasDo the laptop rentals come with an Ethernet cable? It'd be weird if they didn't, but I don't think I saw it in the list of included peripherals.
We will provide ethernet cables for you if you got a laptop rental.
RendoasI'm also assuming they can connect to the monitor rentals? No specific info about that though.
A miniDisplayPort to DisplayPort cable is included, which is capable of 144hz at 1080p.

crackbabydumpstervaccine/testing requirement?
Sorry, meant to put this in the original post, so I'll update that now.
When you first check-in to get your badge, you will need to present either proof of vaccination or a negative covid test.
For admission via proof of vaccination, it must be the most recent booster shown on your standard covid-19 vaccination card. This booster is readily available nationwide.
For admission via negative test, the test must be within the last 48 hours prior to showing up at the event.
1jayyrgb4 was fun, venue is great too if it's coinciding with the anime + game convention.
TooManyGames won't be with us for this LAN due to schedule conflicts, but we'll possibly team up with them again in the future.

Is this part of TooManyGames like last time?
Not this time around, unfortunately. Perhaps next LAN, though!

Can I play in other tournaments?
You may only play in other tournaments if and when you’ve been eliminated from the TF2 tournament. Keep in mind that the TF2 tournament is only on Saturday, so anything you wish to do on Friday is up to you. There are no tournaments on Sunday.
How can I sit with my team or other friends?
There will be a section for each charity (so a red section, green section, and blue section). Make sure your team picks the same color/charity if you want to sit near each other. If you don't care about sitting next to each other, then it doesn't matter what color/charity everyone chooses. There will be no assigned seating within each section.
Will there be rental computers and monitors?

FAQ – TF2 tournament (DETAILS TENTATIVE)
How can I play in the tournament?
You’ll need to find a team if you haven’t already found one. Keep in mind that the tournament will be 6 vs 6. This thread will have plenty of teams looking for players, so make sure to post here (and don’t forget to include what class you play). If you can’t find a team, there will certainly be pick-up teams made while at the event.
Will there be a buy-in for the tournament?
Yes, it is $5 per person (or $30 per team).
What will the prizes and payout be?
1st Place: 60% of total prize pool + additional prizes TBA
2nd Place: 30% of total prize pool
3rd Place: 10% of total prize pool
I’m interested in sponsoring the tournament with cash and/or prizes. How should I contact you about this?
Contact us here: https://rgblan.org/contact
When is the tournament?
The entirety of the TF2 tournament will be on Saturday. It will start at 11 AM.
What is the format of the tournament?
6 players per team. There will be a group stage (for seeding) followed by double elimination.
What are the rules?
Class-limits (NA rules):
2 Scouts
2 Soldiers
2 Pyros
1 Demoman
1 Heavy
1 Engineer
1 Medic
1 Sniper
2 Spy
Time-limit / win-limit (EU/NA hybrid rules):
30 minute time-limit
If a team wins 5 rounds (or 3 on koth), that team wins.
If the game is tied after 30 minutes, the tiebreaker will be decided by golden cap. If this occurs in group stage, there will be a 10 minute time limit, and if there is no victor by that time, then whoever controls mid is the winner. If this occurs in the double elimination bracket, there will be no time limit for golden cap.
What maps will be in use?
Whatever the current RGL map pool is at the time.
===
Post in the thread if you need a team.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask in the thread or PM me.

I personally disagree with color interrupting play-by-play with making orgasmic noises. I think it's distracting to what's going on, even if it's really exciting. In professional sports, very rarely do I see sportscasters have their color commentator interrupt play-by-play with random exclamatory noises, no matter how exciting the situation is. One thing that Valorant casters / commentators have been doing recently is gasping during tense moments, and I find it adds unnecessary noise to already great moments.
Maybe I'm being a little pedantic, but I find myself enjoying moments better without the unnecessary color interruption. Maybe I'm just really annoyed with Valorant commentary and I can't unhear the random gasping, lol.
At the very least, you shouldn't talk over the person that's already talking with your own commentary.
