TBH ESEA wasn't even that bad. JM was really the only "good" player on most of those teams, and the rest of the players (and the team as a whole) were more than beatable, The last real open sandbag team that was an actual problem was the like single season BudSquad played in open and then proceeded to main class in finals when they lost 3 rounds, and that was like 6+ years ago now. Beyond that sandbagging was never actually a massive issue in open. IM had more of an issue with the whole 8k era, but even then there were always teams that could stack up to them.

Then you end up with 3 and a half hour ashville matches.

Its a little more than just "a bit" of a shithole. Kiwifarms probably has more degens per post than 4 or 8 chan does nowadays. And it really sucks that KF is seemingly trying to target and lolcow Lange. Really hope he's doing ok.

So yeah during playoffs/off seasons a lot of teams die in TF2. It is extremely rare for a team to last more than 2 seasons or so. So if you are not in playoffs its roster shuffle time along with fuck around time. As for how to avoid it? Unfortunately unless you find teams you can be consistent scrim partners with it can be a roll of the dice at times.

My advice is just to not worry about it too much as it happens to everyone, and if you can just play the game. There are always things you can work on as a team irregardless of if the other team is playing "proper" or not. Work on pushes or positioning or bombs or taking map control or something. Very rarely is there nothing that can be done and the scrim is a total waste of time.

Realtalk, after coaching with kevin this season I am firmly of the belief that if you do not have a team coach, and you are outside of invite/top of div 1, you are playing the game wrong. The players would have to say themselves how effective they think the entire thing has been, but in my 10+ years of played I have never seen a team improve as fast as this one has.

Really hope to see a lot of people show up because at this point in the games lifecycle I dont think there is a single thing an individual can do to have a greater impact on the game and community.
