Vanguard: I was just getting into the band Flaming Lips, heard the song Race for the Prize, the word "vanguard" was in it and it was a word I didn't recognise which for me as a little English nerd was rare, so I looked it up and thought it sounded cool and had a cool meaning so when I had to come up with a username a few days later it stuck.

The DLK at the end that I have on TFTV and I think still on ETF2L: abbreviation of my first consistent online alias, darklightknight, a name which came mainly out of the fact that I was like 9.

(Also the first variant of my current name was Vanguard448 and the 448 came from the National Dex number of Lucario)

In the relatively short time I've been with Saloon, CHERRY's been one of the nicest, friendliest and most dedicated guys I've ever worked with. Him contacting me about writing for Saloon.tf was the first opportunity I was given to do writing for anything in this game in any official capacity and it gave me the experience, confidence and exposure to later get involved with TFTV and TF2Stadium; without CHERRY noticing and approaching me I probably wouldn't have had the confidence to properly go into writing for TF2 and I probably never would've ended up writing the first Vanguard's View satire piece, which is still one of my favourite things I've ever written.

Even from the little time I've known him I have a lot to be thankful to CHERRY for and, though I look forward to seeing where Saloon goes under Geel's ownership, it really sucks to see him go. Give the man a fond farewell guys - he really does deserve it.
