Philosophical Question About Whitelists/Blacklists

"If it ain't broke don't fix it."
Valve have had years to listen to our feedback/suggestions so why should we feel liable to get the support when the community seems better off on its own. Lets just do things our way instead of trying to appeal to a higher calling that couldn't give a shit about us anyway. Thousands of players have built this "esport" from the ground up with minimal support together and as we have seen with the upcoming Rewind LAN have been able to support potentially 3 teams to play @LAN without a single penny from the overlords. So why can't we have our own rules, our own whitelists, our own leagues. Lets just muster all the effort we have into what we got now and make it something we can all enjoy as a community.
TL;DR: Yes lets make our own choices on the whitelist rather than forcing ourselves to make changes for no gain.
