#60 MGE_Oihguv_Sucks in Map Discussion

Hey all, sorry for the HUGE necro, but I've put up the source files for the final version of the map released in this thread, which are also the source files I had given to Steph for their development of mge_oihguv_reloaded.

The repo for it can be found here: https://github.com/WariTF/mge_oihguv_rocks

At time of writing, this repo does NOT include any changes Steph has made in mge_oihguv_reloaded. I've updated the OP of this thread to point to mge_oihguv_reloaded as the continuation of this map, and linked to the repo there as well

Thanks, and happy MGE-ing

I'd like to add to the global warming point

Trump's first bullet point on energy policy:

Make America energy independent, create millions of new jobs, and protect clean air and clean water. We will conserve our natural habitats, reserves and resources.

Trump's third bullet point on energy policy:

Unleash America’s $50 trillion in untapped shale, oil, and natural gas reserves, plus hundreds of years in clean coal reserves.

How are you supposed to do the first by encouraging our reserves to be drained, removing EPA regulations, cutting funding for the EPA, and replacing the head of the EPA with a climate change denier.

As a Sanders to Hillary voter, I have to admit that the majority of people on my side did a fucking abysmal job of arguing the points of why to vote for the democratic party. It pained me every time I had to see liberals get shut down because they didn't know how to argue their points well and simply resorted to dried up talking points.

That and the strongest drive for liberals was probably keeping Trump out, whereas the Trump side was genuinely excited to have their guy running.

Brexit part 2: US election 2016
this isn't as big of a deal as you make it out to be, the market losses as a response to Brexit initially have already since rebounded

No it hasn't. The only recent uptick is from the news that the British parliament must vote on Brexit.

eeeSearchlightSince we're discussing 538, does anyone know whether they factor in early voting? Obviously you can't expect an early vote to automatically fall in line with the state of the polls when it was cast, but maybe there are tools to price in that sort of stuff.no, 538's biggest "flaw" rn is not factoring in early voting or GOTV efforts, both of which seem to be helping Clinton

Having followed the 538 Elections Podcast, I think they make pretty good arguments for the model showing Trump with such a high chance of winning compared to other models. They don't factor in early voting because the people who vote early are already considered in the likely voter camp. These are the people that have been decided and would always show up as they do in polls. There's also the part about how early voting is a relatively new thing, and they don't know what early voting stats actually tell about how an election will turn out, so they're erring on the side of caution, which is what Nate Silver prides his model on.

With some states opening up to the possibility of flipping sides late, and some polls showing Clinton relatively down from being in the news lately (and Trump not doing anything retarded in the past two weeks), it's just a conservative (in the other way) guess that maybe Trump has a bigger possibility of winning than other models predict.

That said, they also address that they don't have the best numbers they can get. That kind of data is available to the pollsters at the DNC and RNC. The RNC historically has skewed their numbers in favor of themselves, but the DNC keeps rather accurate numbers. If the DNC thinks they're doing fine, they're probably doing fine and Clinton will actually win.

#1 [Remove Stream] Wari in Requests

I don't play TF2 or stream it anymore. I'd rather my stream not be on the sidebar if I don't ever do anything TF2 related just out of respect for the streams that actually do. I also dropped out of the TFTV stream group on Twitch so I don't get autohosts from TF2 streams

sacSince the majority of Clinton are women and minorities, and they on average score less on the IQ scale, you could safely say, they are the camp of the dummies..

#12 spotify premium in Off Topic

I have premium on the windows client and on the phone.

Best thing about it is def 320kbps streaming and download. I use it on my phone all the time. Sometimes the app will lock up for a sec, but at this point that's probably just my 2 y/o phone rather than the client. On one or two occassions the client (or I may have fucked up) turned off downloading my phone collection, so it deleted all my downloaded files on me (like 2.5k songs)

Windows client with 320kbps is basically the bare minimum you'd want for streaming on pc + some slightly unresponsive browsing. In the past spotify has just removed features for no reason, then put them back like a year later which is really dumb, but other than that the client works for me. Everyone always suggests to use the web client though, so prob do that

For $5 a month it's def worth it tho.

Paladin_IMSif you have a large offline collection of music already, consider google play music. you can upload 50k of your own songs and stream them anywhere (you can also do this free now)

Biggest problem I've had with Google Play is that there's a limit to the number of songs you can have in a playlist to download, so there's no easy way to download ALL of your music without splitting it into several playlists. That said, uploading and streaming your own library is really useful
