#22 Spacewhales ESEA S12 Lan Raffle! in TF2 General Discussion
harbleuZakirllI think the total cost for flights was around $2700. lol wtf? ours were more than $1000 less than that.

Yeah, I made sure we were checking from the day they announced the dates just to make sure. I checked so many sites and Blaze and YZ were just retarded expensive. Blaze is like sending 2.5 people! He covered a good part of that himself or through another sponsor, not entirely sure.

#1 Spacewhales ESEA S12 Lan Raffle! in TF2 General Discussion

With the season 12 lan a week away I'd like to ask the TF2 community for help ensuring that The Spacewhales have a great lan experience! Before the season started I approached br0 and offered to help them with league and lan costs. Donations are a great way to help invite teams cover the costs of playing in invite and attending lan events. Players get to directly support their favorite teams and in return they get fantastic TF2 matches, quality streams, and casting. I couldn't commit to covering the full costs, but paid league fees and promised to match any donations from the community. It helps your donations go further and leaves money for other teams who might need it.

With a little more than a week to go we're short of our goal. I'm not sure who at ESEA thought that it would be a good idea to schedule the lan right around Thanksgiving, but ticket prices are higher than we had hoped. As of now I will be covering the extra expenses to make sure that all 6 players can attend. I'd like to purchase YZ50's ticket by this weekend and would like to raise $200-$400 by next week.

I'm holding a raffle for a gaming PC that I built a while back.

I'll help the winner choose the best case for them and set it up to their liking by default I'll include a Fractal case. Whether you want silent noctua fans in a small portable case or a behemoth with amazing cooling I have it!

Raffle Details:

All donations should be made to the Spacewhales chipin!

http://thespacewhales.chipin.com/spacewhales-s12-esea-lan

$5 = 1 Ticket
$20 = 5 Tickets
$50 = 15 Tickets

The draw will be done during the ESEA Finals. All proceeds will go to teams attending the ESEA lan. If we manage to cover our expenses then any extra will be distributed to the players from all teams for food expenses. It might be nothing, or it might be a pizza per team, either way it will be appreciated!

Shipping will have to be discussed when the winner is announced. I don't want to discourage players from other countries from participating, but shipping a PC overseas can be expensive. I'll offer the option to ship the parts without a case.

Specs:

i7 920 3.8 GHz @ 1.2v
EVGA X58 Micro SLI Motherboard
6GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 1866
Crucial M4 128GB
WD Green 2TB HDD
ATI Radeon 5870
Asus Xonar D2X
Seasonic M12D 850W PSU
Blu Ray Drive (Will check on the model)
Noctua NH-U9B Heatsink
Selection of cases, fans, and other accessories.

The ATI 5870 was fantastic when it was released. I ran three of them for a while and when I upgraded I gave one to my brother since his PC was running hot with the old setup. It's still a solid card for most gamers. I'd also note that the card has been running without any issues and is from XFX so you will be able to contact them if you have any warranty issues.

The CPU has been running in Blindtalents PC since 2009. It's a D0 stepping which was an improvement over the earlier steppings. I've had it running at 3.8 GHz on 1.2v and haven't touched the bios since. It was installed in an mATX case with a smaller heatsink so I never tried pushing it past 4 GHz. It has no problem running games and has hyperthreading which makes it great for people who like to stream.

EVGA's X58 motherboards were arguably the best, I sold an Asus X58 board that gave me constant problems when the EVGA X58 Micro was released. It can handle an SLI or Crossfire setup, has triple channel memory and has excellent connectivity.

Crucial M4 is a recent upgrade because HDD's suck.

The Seasonic PSU is modular and was probably the best PSU available in 2009. 850W is plenty to add a second card and it's pretty much silent.

Asus D2X was their best sound card available at the time. Much better than the alternatives from creative.

6GB of DDR3 is passable, you could easily upgrade this to 12 GB for under $60 and get faster RAM.
