#3253 PC Build Thread in Hardware

After alot of thinking I'd rather drop overclocking than portability. My final question is wether the Cryorig C7 and Noctua NH-L9i are good enough to cool the i7-8700k. I guess the turbo up to 4.7ghz makes it run hot but I dont know how to know for sure. What do you think? Also sorry for spamming the thread

Edit: checked tdp ratings, I guess I'll have to semi big either way even without overclocking

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll have a look and see what I want to do, travelling portability is my main concern but I also don't wanna drop too much performance. If I dared I would delid :D

Makes sense, I guess I can go a little bit bigger. I'm really contemplating wether I wanna go bigger or drop the idea of overclock. Between the SG08 and Metis I'm leaning towards the Metis

Although it looks like my graphics card wont fit in the Metis looking at their specs

I'd like to go as small as possible since I ideally would like to put the pc in a backpack or carryon bag and bring to lan.

The Raijintek Metis or Silverstone SG08 feels a bit too big to be honest. Haha great mobo name

Case can absolutely be changed, but portability is number 1 for me and ofc being able to fit some decent things into it.

The cases I have been looking at is DAN A4 and ghost s1 mini

I dont need wifi or anything special other than that. I will always have a cable plugged into it. My plan is to get a 500gb m.2 and have 500gb m.2 and a regular 500gb ssd in the case. Then get some kind of usb to sata for my last regular HDD that I barely use but have some stuff on.

In my current rig I have it clocked to 4.9ghz, although using Noctua NH-D15.

Current SSD is not an M.2 but I'm planning on getting one.

Doesnt have to be that specific psu but its small, not sure if 600w is enough however.

Oh I just noticed you can't overclock with H370, glad I posted here. I'm open for suggestions on mobo's.

Thanks!

#3240 PC Build Thread in Hardware

Hello,

I'm thinking of converting my current PC to mini ITX with the ghost S1 mini.

My question is that I wanna continue using my i7 8700k with this mini itx rig. I would like to be able to overclock if possible. Is there a good low profile air cooler that would be able to overclock i7 8700k? doesnt have to be a massive overclock. Currently looking at Cryorig C7 and Noctua NH-L9i. I understand that it might not be possible and the suggestion below is better.
CPU Heatsink: Up to 66 mm

Alternatively get the large top hat for the case and get water cooling (I'd like to use aircooler more since my intention is to bring the machine to lans and I'm a bit frightened to move the pc around with a water cooler inside).
WATER COOLING: 240 mm AIO radiator thickness 31.5 mm, 2 x 25 mm high fans w. L TopHat

List of specs I will reuse
ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2070 8GB OC Gaming
Intel Core i7-8700K
Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB (2x8GB) 3000MHz DDR4
SSD

What I need to get
PSU > Corsair SF600 (if 600w is enough)
Mini ITX mobo (ASUS ROG STRIX H370-I)
Cpu cooler ?
Case (Ghost S1 Mini)

If you have any suggestions for anything else that I've mentioned I'm open to it!
Thanks!

Starkieid recommend an airbnb if you can find one, generally a better experience and cheaper
(also last year tickets were like £100 which is a bit yikes)

only problem is that most of the airbnbs are far. Taxi ride kind of far. But still cheaper probably.

Is there anyone who is an admin in the pugchamp mumble? I registered myself on the mumble with an old installation of mumble so I haven't been able to click the button to join voice for a year or so.
