#1 High open scout lft in Recruitment (looking for team)

Hello,

With the current regular season of ESEA coming to an end and with the fact that I'm boring myself to death not starting in a team I figured I'd make a looking thread.

I'm looking to play in a CEVO team next season, skill level hopefully near ESEA high open. I can scrim every night at least 2 hours and I hope to be in a team that could scrim at least 4 days a week.

If CEVO releases a pay to play tf2 division then I'd like to play there, but if that doesn't happen I'm happy to play anywhere but ESEA.

Past experience:

ESEA Open S13 Point n Click (6-10)
ESEA Open S14 Donde (9-7)

Then took a break for S15 and backed up for Build A Morin Workshop while playing in a UGC 6s team with friends

I would like to play scout but I'm also fond of medicing. Add me up and lets discuss.

edit: found a team :D
edit 2: NVM, team disbanded, looking again

#45 Longest you have quit TF2? in Off Topic

I know someone who quit tf2, uninstalled the game, and then reinstalled it the same day. He was yelling at us in mumble to wait for his game to finish reinstalling before we started scrimming.

msteam definitely leaves drivers (among other things) behind when you uninstall it

I think the point you don't get about the difference between the ESEA client and other programs mason, is that any software you install in your computer has potential access to your stuff, including your OS, your antivirus, your hardware drivers, your word processing tools, hell even your favorite pdf reader. What differences all of this software from ESEA's client is that not one of this programs have used my CPU to mine bitcoins without my consent.

#39 ESEA and CEVO in TF2 General Discussion

I've stated my position before of why I can't go back to ESEA and nowhere in that wall of text did you address it squid. Malware.

MarxistIt's also time to give up on touting the "malware" nature of the client, beyond the bitcoin miner, because frankly there's no evidence that anything of the sort (beyond the bitcoin miner and standard AC practices) existed. If you want to take a stand against ESEA take a stand against the incompetence that allowed the bitcoin miner to go into the client - because there isn't real evidence that any other activity has ever gone on.

They installed software with the potential to access your computer whenever they want, can you really say there is no evidence that they didn't do anything malicious after they mined thousands of dollars out of bitcoins with your computer? Why are you separating both features of the client, like: "bitcoins was one malicious thing, backdoor was another malicious thing, there is only evidence of the bitcoins activity, which didin't affect us, so it's fine".
If they did touch our computers to mine bitcoins that gives me all the reason to believe they could use the backdoor whenever they want.

MarxistI also don't understand why people who are upset with ESEA aren't more actively voicing their opinions to the people at ESEA who aren't idiots. Lange's letter to Torbull is probably the best thing that's been done so far. Hell, if I were more concerned I'd bother Killing about it at the very least.

What's the point if they're just banning the people that's bringing it up, see Fzero and StPatrick.

#19 So, about that Doctor Who special today in Off Topic
MachuPikachuI guess some something went down while I was asleep. The special was some nice fan-service with David Tennant returning, in all I enjoyed it.

*BTW* can somebody pm me the moist details of what happened yesterday?

#354 Mix^ in TF2 General Discussion

Damn it TwitchTVJohn, I really do want to believe that ESEA will change and that they will stop screwing their customers over. Because truth be told, ESEA has been the best option of a league that we have had so far. We were all happy at the beginning of the season for the add to the prize pool and the creation of the Main division. As you describe, all of the features that ESEA has have positioned them way ahead as a legitimate league to play, and they have a good space for tf2 that we can use.

But they crossed a line and enough is enough. I cannot accept to be involved with a company that apparently has access to my computer even when their client is supposed to be off, and that when is asked by their CUSTOMERS to explain the situation they just decide to ban them. Many people that plays in ESEA are not kids, me included, I have a job, I have professional responsibilities, I have access to sensitive information of both the company where I work and their users, and I can't take the risk of allowing ESEA's client to potentially have access to such information for the sake of my personal hobby. Sure, they haven't done anything malicious, but what if they do? what am I gonna explain to my superiors and my customers? "Ammm.. yea, I was playing videogames and someone stole my files while I was going ham".

Sorry but I can't allow that. For my part I will try my best for another league to become the house of our game, because I believe that we should not go back to ESEA and because I believe that the competitive scene can still exist without ESEA.

#236 The ESEA abuse thread in TF2 General Discussion
skyrideare aware that you implicitly give this permission every single time you download any file of any kind to your computer right?

?
If anything you're allowing your browser to create a new file in your computer with the data that you have chosen to download, the company from which you're downloading something does not have access to your filesystem at all, they only just provide content.

As much as we all want to keep playing competitive the same way we have been playing it until now, I think something is getting clear by now, many of us simply won't be playing in ESEA next season (out of the question). And those of us who want to keep playing the game anyway will simply join another league.

We can decide which league to join as a community and hope that the competition will be just as good as it has been (or better), or we can all go our own ways and hope that the scene don't die.

Mr_OwlFogI'm willing to forgo ever playing on a competitive team if it means it frees up my time to work on a viable alternative.

If any alternative league wants to contact me for any assistance, just add me on steam and I'll be more than willing to help

same goes for me. I can't code, but I'm pretty good at administrating a bunch of children so my skills should transfer pretty well.

Consider me too, I can code and organize. You don't even understand how much I love this game.

#8 League change poll in TF2 General Discussion

there should be about 500 players registered in ESEA not counting backups considering the number of teams in the different divisions.

team leaders please show this poll to your oblivious teammates so we can have a representative amount of votes. anything less than 250 votes and we will accomplish nothing more than "this season's threads complaining about ESEA".
