Dear Diary,
A Mansky appeared in the wild today. His biceps are much bigger in person.
i had to clean install windows yesterday and now tf2's shitty config system keeps reverting to an incomplete version. I just want to DM.
No one plays TF2 forever. Eventually we get old and die. I know its a sad truth to handle but we may only have 50 or so years left of some of the top pros. I just hope Valve fixes match making by then.
toads_tfit's incredibly impractical
Valves adding it to MM I promise.
mathsadthe mm system NEEDS 10 placement matches and a revamped rank system like dota/cs. people who play right now and hold a 50% winrate (common for mm systems like valve's) will always be fresh meat and play with players who might not be at their skill level.
i'm happy they're addressing a lot of the problems mm has but this is easily the biggest imo.
In Hearthstone you don't lose 'elo' in the first few ranks. This allows players that just play the game long enough to crawl up from rank 25 to 20 and then stay there if they never do well again. Playing with bad players with 50+ games under their belt is generally better than playing with completely brand new players.
I don't know if this will work well in TF2 but not losing 'elo' until you're rank 4 may be a good alternative to placement matches. Of course this would mean introducing seasons where you de-rank 3 levels every season.
xattuui just hate how the airblast stops your momentum no matter what way youre moving. even if youre running away you can still get locked in the air and then youre boned. also maybe a longer delay for when you can airblast? or give the flame thrower a (reload) or (cool down) mechanic so you cant be repeatedly airblasted for 30 seconds straight
Yeah basically this^
Optional: Give pyro a secondary unlock that's strong at mid range but weak at short range. Currently pyro uses airblast to auto win close range fights. I want to instead see a pyro use airblast to push players to a mid range 'sweet spot' where they can win with the new unlock. Maybe something like the medic's cross bow that works better at mid-long range.
Heavy: I don't know as far as competitive but I'd love a primary that gave me 100 health so I could run around in pubs 400 health fat scouting people.
:O i get 200 ping from california, but :O

Sentries are the pub killers.
Right now you have 3 different levels all close to a point (on top of nipple, on high ground, and on the middle ground on the ramps). You can space the lowest one out by turning those ramps into gradual slops.

You have to be up against one of those two walls to avoid getting sniped by the long sight line.

Is this 64 units? Try to space it between 32 to 48 units so you don't have to crouch jump on something as important as the capture point. Look at the lips on Gullywash mid high ground for an example.

Mid is basically completely open. You can put a building on top of the hill, extend the building on the side of each large plank, greatly increase the size of the hill while lining up the large planks closer to the top of the hill (like balcony and bridge on badlands mid), or something else. Mid layout needs that extra big something to lower visibility. Something BIG.
There's quite a few absurdly long sight lines but I'm sure you already know that. The map isn't flat!!! Thank god for that.
I don't know if its just me but ping heavily influences hit reg of my flick shots. On California servers basically everything hits. On Denver most of my shots register but usually do less damage. On Chicago servers, 70+ ping, a lot don't hit and almost all do significantly less damage. Once in a while I would just feel like my aim was on, all my shots were hitting, but only realize after I was on a California server. For better or for worse flicking my shots isn't an option for me in TF2. Capping my fps (like its forced in MM) completely screws up my hit reg way beyond ping but that's probably for different reasons.
People don't want to hear excuses but it just fucking sucks.
I recommend lots of repetition. If I watch you do a jump once, then I know if I do exactly as you do I can do the jump. If I see you jump 3+ times, then I start to understand what's important and what's not. more reps ---> better understanding
As others have said, a bunch of short videos going over each jump is better than clumping them together.
I like mid but it borrows way too much from Process to be considered an original map. IMO

didn't miss a single shot as scout, didn't even know which direction to aim as soldier
