Is there a way to defrag my files w/ steampipe?
Babblingrock, then I shortened it to babble.
Also sometimes I alias as mollusk, but not a lot.
lamefxOne thing that would help is that youtube videos on www.youtube.com/teamfortresstv get a lot of basic questions asked like: which hud is being used? why is there a wallhack? where can i find this map etc.
It would be helpful to have someone go through some old videos and answer some of those and continue for videos that will be updated in the future.
I'll start tomorrow (too busy ATM). Should the info be in a comment, or what? Seems like something like a FAQ in the description of each vid would be great, and I think you can't put links in YouTube comments.
Watching the Tip of the Hats stream was a really awesome experience. Seeing a group of people take something they love, and use that passion to raise money for those truly needed it was really inspiring. I mean, this is a group of people who came together because of a video game, and raised 35k for kids with cancer.
Up until now, I've been a pretty passive member of this community. I've commented a few times on some threads, tried to introduce a few people to competitive tf2, donated, all that stuff. But now, I really want to help. And i think I'm not the only one with this attitude, either. Plenty of people would love to help, but lack guidance or a goal.
So, my question is this: What can I do to make a difference, and to help this community grow?
Not the real bunny
So they're both fake?
Who's Bunny?brands
brands aka bunny
brands is snowy
This is like a tf2 community conspiracy...
Is it going to be called the legend?
This discussion is good and all, but what do you guys actually think the main idea?
I see it's not what your're looking for, babble, but a good resource to keep in mind :D
Yeah, definitely. Any exposure is good, especially the type of things that people who aren't super interested in comp can be watch and learn from.
Well how about getting the tf.tv casters, or even the eXtv casters to low end games, and even small community tournaments, and while waiting, they could talk about the game mode's and what's involved. Have those casters post something on reddit, and we just up vote the bloody hell out of it. It'll involve more communities & even help grow a bit.
This would be a lot better than the music and camera panning round a map that they have now.

scout: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kI7vCs3pbVA

Keep in mind they are for real beginners. We never made it to demo. I helped in writing the scout one, I am to blame for all that cheese :[
What I had in mind would be more like a trailer (fast-paced, exciting), and would be just one video. The idea would be to give the watcher enough knowledge to watch a cast and not be confused, as well as to make it interesting enough that they want to watch more.
One of the things turning people off of competitive tf2 is a lack of knowledge concerning the competitive formats. To many pub players, watching a cast may be confusing unless the caster takes time, not commenting on the game, to explain it.
But one of the tf2 community's strongest parts is the video making community. There are tons of fantastic frag videos, compilations, and other types of videos out there.
So why don't we use on thing to fix the other? There could be a competition to make two short (4-5 mins) videos (one for Highlander and one for 6's) that would be used as a introduction to competitive tf2. This could be put in the info of streams, on popular YouTube channels, and generally broadcast as widely as possible.
Of course, this is just an idea. Thoughts?
I think the "critique", in the first place, is stupid. You're obviously doing fine, and if there are people that regularly watch your stuff, that means that there is a a group of people that prefer your style of casting, as opposed to a more professional approach. And every group or community needs so diversity. If we had all really professional casters, someone would cry out for a more goofy caster.
Is is the geometry, props, and overabundance of doors, colors, or bad spawns that make a map imbalanced? Not just that, but what elements does a good map have?
