I've pretty much decided on getting a 3770k (for the extra speed in video editing/possible streaming/multitasking), but I'm not sure which cpu coolers, ram, mobos are good. I have around $1000, but could spend a bit more or less if it's worth it/not worth it.

Already have windows 7 and peripherals, I'd like to overclock as much as I can, not sure which cooler would be good (noctua dh14? hyper 212? possibly h80 or water cooling).

Edit: How do the haswell chips compare? Ie 4770k vs 3770k, is it worth the extra?

Well first of all you should have the common sense to at least check in your task manager/msi afterburner (or evga precision x, etc some hardware monitor) to see if anything is actually bottlenecking you.

But there is no reason why you should lag in tf2 with that setup. If this were for other games, I would say ugrade the gpu. For video editing the 650 should be fine (Look up adobe's cuda hack if you want gpu accel for premiere/ae/etc, don't think the 650 ti is natively supported). A 3770k or 4770k (or higher) would probably benefit for video editing, but honestly it's not worth it unless you do a ton of it. If you were building a new pc and hadn't already purchased the 3570k that'd be different.

Have you tried overclocking? Defrag hard drive? Updated drivers? Verify cache? I really doubt the problem is going to be hardware.

How is hyper threading at all the same thing as the module cores amd fx uses? lol, good logic there bud. The i7 has less cores than the fx6300, it does have hyper threading but that doesn't help in gaming at all.

I have the barracuda 1tb version and it's fine. Like 160mbps write speads, its amazing.

Again, that motherboard looks really cheap. Its micro atx and 4+1 vrm so you wouldn't be able to overclock very well. About the cpu, the 6350 is just the 6300 overclocked and overvolted stock, and with a higher tdp. The 6300 will be better if you're overclocking

Intel is better for tf2 iirc. FXs are good for streaming and a lot of other games (see teksyndicates review of it versus the i5, did pretty well in crysis and stuff)

Edit: that mobo is super cheap, you should get at least a 970 or 990fx for the fx 6/8 cores
