#729 TF2 benchmarks in TF2 General Discussion
IsocrespiI would be interested in knowing the difference after you test again but in dxlevel 90 instead of 95. Would you mind trying that and letting me know? Of course make sure to remove the -dxlevel 90 from your launch options after the first launch and then test.

I also feel compelled to ask if you enabled XMP settings or any other feature required to get the full speed of your RAM?
No difference on dxlevel 90:
2639 frames 9.540 seconds 276.63 fps ( 3.61 ms/f) 19.854 fps variability

I think I have XMP enabled, but I'm not 100% sure of that because ASRock's bios settings are in broken English. This is what Windows sees as my RAM timings, though:

Hey bud.

It looks like your RAM is at 1600hz which is HALF of what it could be! Easiest way to know for sure is just open Task Manager and go to performance > memory and it will tell you right there in "speed"

So yeah verify with task manager what your RAM speed is and if it's actually 1600 or anything other than 3200 then you definitely need to get in your BIOS and enable XMP or equivalant setting.

Once you've removed that variable, test again and let me know.

IsoResults from my new PC:

I feel like this score is way lower than it should be, versus comparable hardware posted ITT. During normal non-benchmark pub server gameplay, I frequently get fps drops below the refresh rate on my 240Hz monitor.

#2389 mastercomfig - fps/customization config in Customization

Okay I understand now, sorry for the trouble and thanks for your help

#2387 mastercomfig - fps/customization config in Customization

Let me explain more what I'm trying to achieve. If you go into advanced video options in game, the drop down for shadows has low medium and high.

Having this setting on high basically allows you to see player models through walls at times.

Therefore I'd like this to be set to high regardless of the preset I'm using, if possible.

PetecrespiHey mastercoms, I have a simple question. I love the medium preset but would like to enable high quality shadows. What's the easiest way to achieve this? Would it be to modify the vpk or add a command to my autoexec? Again, I just want the shadow detail to be highest but everything else the same
https://docs.mastercomfig.com/latest/customization/modules/

Thanks for your response. I created a folder tf/cfg/overrides and in there put modules.cfg and in that file I put the following line of code

shadows=ultra

I must not be doing it right as shadows are still medium

#2 Server Help: SOAP DM interferes with Jump Mode in Customization

This has been resolved. The issue is that I wasn't unloading SOAP properly. The following 3 commands must be executed to unload soap

sm plugins unload soap_tf2dm
sm plugins unload soap_tournament
mp_restartgame 1

#2379 mastercomfig - fps/customization config in Customization
mastercomsHi all, you may have heard that huds.tf is shutting down at the end of this month. In response, I'm working on an alternative HUD listing that uses a more modern setup. The basis for this is the HUD DB repo: https://github.com/mastercomfig/hud-db. This is a GitHub repository that stores all data for the HUDs. I am still working on the format and open to any feedback. HUD authors can follow the instructions in the README to learn how to submit and update their HUDs in this repo. The main thing is that HUDs are required to be on GitHub, this allows us to query information about the HUD and preserve version downloads without any overhead to the site.

The initial prototype for displaying the HUD DB is available here: https://comfig.app/huds/1/

Peaches has moved over his HUDs, and I've included 2 example listings for 7hud and budhud. Hopefully I will touch base with omni on accessing the huds.tf data for migration purposes. If not, I plan to scrape it before it goes down and migrate everything over. Also, HUD authors are welcome and encouraged to make their own submissions. Let me know if you have any questions.

I've also migrated all of the huds.tf guides over to the mastercomfig docs: https://docs.mastercomfig.com/latest/tf2/huds/

Regarding hitsounds, I'm still working on a plan for those, but I do definitely want to provide people with an easy way to access and download hitsounds.

Thank you for your hard work. This possible deserves its own thread?

#1 SOAP DM Spawn File for cp_sultry in Customization

Hey Everyone

I noticed the spaceship DM servers have spawns configured for cp_sultry, but the official SOAP repo does not have this updated yet.

I'm not sure if anyone from spaceship would be willing to share that spawn file, or how to contact them.

Or if someone wants to point me to some documentation for how to do this myself, that would be cool too.

Thanks

#11 Self-deprecating humour in Off Topic
I thought they were both synonymous with each other. Is there a distinction?

Admittedly I haven't though about this enough to articulate a distinction, but yes I do think there is one. I googled the difference between the two and indeed someone has held this contention so I do believe there is a difference or at the very least some people do.

The hyperlink I made sums it up in the first sentence saying that self-deprecating is poking fun at yourself but self-defeating is when that becomes excessive, leading to negative outcomes.

I don't have any strong opinions on this, just something I noticed and pointed out.

Your title says self-deprecating but the body says self-defeating. Which is it or do you believe those are synonymous?

#1 Server Help: SOAP DM interferes with Jump Mode in Customization

I'm really sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I did search before posting.

I have a server I occasionally play jump maps on. Even without an official jump mod, sourcemod detects that I'm on a jump map and does the impulse 101 thing to regen health constantly..

I wanted to play SOAP dm as well with some friends and so I installed it.

Here's the problem: With SOAP mod installed, it interferes with the "Jump Mode" from sourcemod. Ammo still regens, but health does not.

My question: How do I keep SOAP installed but have sourcemod return to normal and regen health when I'm jumping?

I tried the documented unload/stop commands for SOAP and it still wouldn't work.

Thanks for your help!
