#281 Valve and Competitive TF2 in News

idk if Sal is alive or still plays video games but I feel like he deserves some credit. That trip with him and eXtine a few years ago was probably pretty instrumental in getting across some points. I hope that he can hear the news of this

joddwill the community ever see the published letter sent to valve?

I think that they said the letter will be released in the extv video

I'm not sure though, they said there is a letter which should be up at the time of the video's release. I'm not sure if they misspoke, if they intend to publish the letter later, or if they are talking about a different letter.

Edit: sorry for double post, didn't notice I was the last post in this thread

Did they say what ranking system they would be using or what game it would be most similar to? Will it be an MMR number that we can see like in DoTA or just a rank like in CSGO?

#7 Possible Majors? in TF2 General Discussion

Valve is data driven. If tournaments start to get massive viewerships then we could potentially see a Valve sponsored tournament. Keep in mind that CSGO didn't get Valve sponsored tournaments until they were getting a lot more viewers than we get now

omnificstephentf2please can we inform valve we dont want to play the public versions of, viaduct, barnblitz etc... only pro versions
valve should make an update replacing the stock maps with those maps instead. It'd make pubs a lot more enjoyable

I think that the reason they haven't done this yet is they don't want to confuse people who are new-ish. Like not complete noobs, but people who are just learning the maps. Although honestly if they really are going to implement all these changes then whenever they push the mm stuff would be the perfect time to push these maps.

Also the payment situation may get a little strange. Do they count as community maps with map stamps? What about maps where different people made different versions? Does a person making a few small changes that really fix the map deserve the same amount of credit as somebody who made a big change that didn't end up doing much to how the map plays?

VanguardDLKIs the matchmaking and hence competitive support likely to result in some fixes or honestly, better yet, a rework of sorts for TF2's SourceTV and demo system?

Also holy shit thank you so much to everybody involved in what is happening, seriously. God I fucking love this game.

I think that mana was implying the demoui would get an overhaul when he brought up the changes for video makers

LKincheloe"Do we have any pictures of Competitive TF2?"

"no"

"Quick! Hop on a valve server and let's take a picture!"

They probably had this picture on hand or found it quickly, I doubt they have time to join a game and take a screenshot. They want to get the article up as fast as possible.

Even if there is no 6v6 matchmaking, it will be good for the 6s community. People will realize there is a more competitive side and will eventually realize that 6v6 is the most competitive gamemode, bringing new players to ESEA and UGC

#146 cp_granary_pro in Map Discussion

I think that leaving the mid unchanged is the correct decision if you want the map to be played over granary. Changing it made it feel more like a new map and less like a tweaked granary.

I quite liked your mid and would play it over granary's, but a lot of people would probably disagree and the map would probably never become mainstream if you keep your own mid.

#62 ESL and ESEA to host $1 million league in CS2 News
gargleburryMr_OwlrAz3people paid for the season already
it wont be this season
If there isn't going to be another season of tf2 after this season i feel like most people will just quit esea. Most people have goals like me for instance, I wanted to make it to invite before quitting. If there isn't a possible way for me to do that then why even bother playing a next season? Plus since its a confirmed last season everyone would be throwing and no one would try there would be no competitive spirit.

If it's the last season I feel like people would try even harder to win, not throw (not that I believe it will be the last season anyway)
