#52 TF2 update for 12/2/15 in TF2 General Discussion
VaskieThere is something very wrong with your Set up if you are getting 70 frames with that Computer. I got a 2500K and a 970 and i barely ever get less than 120 and that's on most Pub servers using Chris Max Quality ..MrJellyIt's called poor optimisation. 300fps for one person 120fps with stuttering for another

BonafideThis: http://pastebin.com/Z8Bquwuz

Just tried running this cfg, got about 180fps in a dm server on dx9, must be an optimization thing

BonafideThan that's something wrong at your end, I run dx9 with a similar but slightly less good setup and I'm getting 290+ always

What config do you use? Everybody I've talked to with similar hardware has gotten similar fps to me.

wickedplayer494Feel free to take shits on me all you want, but the fact of the matter is Valve can't afford to keep supporting your antiquated setups forever. If anything you should be thankful that they even bothered supporting XP and DX8 past 2013.

Yeah except I have a 4670k and a 780 Ti and I don't get 144 fps with a dx9 fps config. That's by no means an antiquated setup. The game is just shittily optimized and removing one of the major ways to get better fps is dumb.

NightGoatwickedplayer494I'm personally glad that DX9 is a requirement. DX8 is extremely antiquated (it's from even before the Windows XP days). Sure you might complain "b-b-but my FPS!", but do you see CS:GO players playing on DX8 at Valve-sponsored tournaments? Didn't think so.
I don't understand why that would warrant making dx9 required though.

It's possible they just want to use functionality that dx8 doesn't offer somewhere. I don't see Valve making dx9 required for no reason.

Didn't think so.now I don't play csgo much at all, but I'm fairly sure you can't even reliably use DX8 in CSGO.

personally, I don't see much of a problem with using dx9 IF:
they actually make the game run well
options to disable skins/sheens, etc.
add a setting to enable dx8 style lighting(which will probably never happen)

let's be honest here none of those would ever happen not just the last one, we're talking about tf2 here

There is a LevelProgressMeter hud element in with the comp stuff, potentially for levels similar CSGO?

Yeah but CSGO players make bank and can afford good PCs if they are playing professionally. Also the PCs at Valve events are generally pretty good. CSGO is also better optimized in my experience, I get better fps on CSGO than TF2 even with fps configs and dx8 in tf2 but high settings in CSGO.

#6 Just another sensitivity thread... in Q/A Help

Changing your sens frequently will make you feel like you are hitting more shots because you will be hitting different shots. Say you play on a really low sens and can't really hit flick shots well. If you switch to a higher sens you will probably hit flick shots better but you might miss the shots that require more precise movement or tracking. It's best to just stick with one sens enough that you can hit any shot with it. If you look through top players in any game they usually don't change their settings much.

You could try using mouse accel if you feel like no sens fits what you like. Just make sure you are using windows accel and not the accel in engine because source engine accel is inconsistent and relies on fps.
