#782 ESEA's possible demise? in TF2 General Discussion
drexeleydefyLAN has always been a thing for ESEA, the top seeds of invite get to go this has nothing to do with league fees
How do you think those expenses are paid? Magic?

Team fortress is nothing but a COST for ESEA. A cost that has required Counter Strike to make up for each season. Especially when it comes to paying for LANs.

EDIT: Hes an alt nvm

you're fucking retarded holy shit, ESEA had lan before tf2 was even in it and that was over 15 seasons ago, tf2 didn't make its lan debut till season 4 in ESEA. it's not like TF2 is hemorrhaging money from ESEA if that was the case they would of dropped the game a long time ago. the money in ESEA isn't solely depended on league fees and premium, believe it or not there are a handful of financial factors that come into play when running a company..crazy i know !

drexeleyESEA-Shooterm4risaWould a 2 division season have a LAN?Invite is always on LAN, something ESEA has always done for their Invite divisions.
How could you afford to have a LAN when you have only 2 divisions paying fees?

................really?

LAN has always been a thing for ESEA, the top seeds of invite get to go this has nothing to do with league fees

ESEA-ShooterAlright, so much for my first Teamfortress.TV post, but here it is.

First of all, Killing's in class, so he couldn't answer any of these replies during the day, he had a midterm, but we spoke a few minutes ago.

I am Shooter, League Commissioner for ESEA League. Validation right here; https://play.esea.net/users/131406

As Killing said in previous replies on other threads, in other to have a season of the League, Invite/Main/Intermediate teams need to be paid before we close registration, and we need to have enough teams in the Open division. If the final decision is to NOT have a TF2 season (due to NOT enough teams) within ESEA, everyone who paid league fees will be refunded, once the decision has been taken (it can take a few days).

this thread is already 25 pages deep, i'm not sure if killing already addressed this but has the option of gutting main + im and having open + invite been discussed at all? what sort of options/flexibility do you have there

MemphisVondefy so you're gonna have to deal with the 5-0's or not play at all...or just get good

obviously thats a goal for people that are gonna play for a while, but rest assured i think emotion will cloud the judgement of new players/teams...a lot of people often get discouraged when they get rolled. i know thats not the case for everyone, but i believe its going to effect a pretty large majority of new comers

this game has been around for a while now, i remember my third season was in IM after playing open for 2 seasons. playing against guys like blackstar, paladin, ruwin, pyyyour wasn't easy at all since they have been around for a while. but i liked the challenge as did the rest of our team. a lot of other people complained wondering why those guys weren't playing invite etc etc, that's been happening for a while now so its no surprise

my point is this, i seriously doubt new players are gonna take any joy in getting destroyed by numerous teams that are way beyond the skill gap of cevo open. and if you think it's only gonna last for 1 season you're in for quite a surprise. it's gonna be like that for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time if cevo sticks around. esea finally started up a main division but i guess thats irrelevant now, yeah its gonna be a rude awakening and all the new players are gonna have to swallow their pride when they get shit stomped in and out each season by new or existing open teams in cevo.

i'll see how long it lasts before even more threads about sandbagging in cevo pop up, when in reality its not sandbagging its automatic placement of new teams because you aren't automatically placed in a higher division, so you're gonna have to deal with the 5-0's or not play at all

i've been saying this for the longest time, FPS games aren't thriving like they were years ago....ESEA has done some completely retarded shit thats a no brainer but no other NA league has supported TF2 this consistently for 15 seasons thats a long ass time...all the way back to the complexity days.

of course everyone whos still wet behind the ears and new to this game is all #CEVOOOOOOO, support comes and goes with this league and when they had counter-strike it was arguably one of the most popular FPS games out, ESEA was going strong and they just called it quits with CEVO.

no lan = a lot more players quitting, people always talk about how great it would be to see guys like reptile to return and things like that, a lot of top players will up and quit without lan...they don't put in the time and get all hyped up to play finals online...LAN is what makes a some what shitty season turn to a great season once lan rolls around. this bandwagon shit is a joke but it comes as no surprise since the community is full of people that cant think for themselves

SoapYou know its bad when a company can install a malware system on your computer and there is still large support to keep giving them business.

I guess ill never understand it. That is such a huge huge disservice to a customer

if you have a hard time understanding it i'll make it easier for you

it's not that people enjoy abuse, it's just sometimes you gotta take the good with the bad...for example you probably scratch your head sometimes when you see two people getting back together after they where clearly miserable, women are nut jobs....but guys go back because they just want dat ass....even if shes bat shit crazy she got a nice body...so you can get that last squeeze and then break it off again, or be miserable stay together fuck whenever, then probably break it off again...rinse and repeat

ya know what i mean?

you honestly have no idea what you're talking about bublasore, have you even read this thread rofl who the hell are these fools voting woot as the best demoman? At what point did smart play and good aim become overlooked in favor of random mouse flicking and laying stickies everywhere in between constant failed jumps on the enemy medic. Obviously a better teammate than destro or solid, who actually attempt to do damage rather than just cleanup garbage frags.

here is a fun game: download a woot demo or stv of his team and attempt to count the number of shots which are aimed. Place bets with friends in mumble over how many times he will stickyjump into the other team to make up for his lack of dming ability. I know it's tempting to spec sureshot carrying him but take the time to truly observe this demoman and try to decipher what exactly he is attempting to do for his team at any given time. and if you still think he is good go to steam, right click tf2, select "delete local content" and take up a mw2 gaming career.
