Happy Birthday to b4nny.
brownstoneIt's an easy fix; Validate your files. I had that problem as well, when you validate your files it will find like 64 files missing and redownload it for you. Hope this helps!
Steam library>right click team fortress 2>properties>local files >verify integrity of game cache
Validating, means "validate your files," as I have stated in my question, yes I've tried that many times.
mthsadtry verifying your game cache.
That's what validating is. Yes I tried it, many times, no it did not work.
If my game crashes for any reason whatsoever, I will be unable to load-up tf2, until I re-install it completely, this is the third time that this has happened. The little load up pop up will come up, then close immediately without loading up the game. I have tried validation, deleting steam files except common, then re-downloading them, I have tried taking out everything that is custom but nothing seems to work except re-installing. I do not want this to keep happening there has got to be another way.
Epochafter you reinstall tf2
do you drag in your old cfg folder?
are you putting this cfg folder in the right location? (custom/myshit/cfg and not /cfg)
is there launch options you have been using that are doing it?
some incompatible cfg options or launch options could maybe be doing it. dx8 too maybe, I dunno.
I tried removing all my custom files, it didn't work, but I'm in the process of re-installing tf2 a second time, this time I will put the CFGs where you said, I did not have them there before.
EDIT: Tried that too, won't load up.
EDIT2: I think I got it to work after deleting the CFG folder again, the validating.
TF2 will crash before I even see the loading screen. I click play, the pop up saying, "loading," it will say in the chat box, that I am in game, then it will close the loading box and never actually pop up with the game. Then it will just say that I am online and not playing. After validating myself, and or, restarting my computer, the game will actually load up with the main menu, but it will crash in a matter of 5 minutes. I also tried this fix http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwoM3WqGiwQ it did not work. The best fix that worked was re-installing tf2, which after that, worked for a few hours, then the same problem started up again after crashing.
EDIT 2: After reinstalling a second time, and putting my CFGs in the correct place, still it did not work, it did not even load up once this time.
EDIT 3: After deleting the CFG folder, validating, then putting in all of my customs I think I got it to work.
