#12 Mumble cause of major lag issues. Help apprecaited in Off Topic
jp_drakLag not occurring when I removed my webcam and mic. Trying to recreate lag right now. Plugged mic back in. LatencyMon still shows heavy CPU0 usage and the main page still looks like that first screenshot I posted. How many usb ports do you have? Try different ports and don't forget to remove installed drivers as you move them. (howtogeek)

I think your webcam mic and snowball mic isn't playing nice.

I know where they're plugged in, what can I do to install drivers for the right ones?
There're a couple different sections. 2 USB3, two blue ones at the top for some reason, and 4 default. All in the back. I have mouse/keyboard in the USB3 ones, and the snowball in the regular. Webcam is now unplugged, issue persists.

After running for 5-10 minutes now, issue is getting worse. I might have to restart as is. Anything worth trying before restarting?

Also re: other software. Happens with both vent and ts as well.

DZKWere you using the same drivers on your old mobo?/ have you tried a different version of your sound driver? Believe it or not sound is a real cpu hog and the driver could be the one causing your troubles. Not saying it is without a doubt but its within the range of the possibilities.

I've installed the sound driver from both realtek's website, and directly from my motherboard's drivers page.

jp_How is the lag when you remove the webcam and mic.

WaldoRun a full virus check, to rule that out as a possibility.

Updated OP with other stuff I remembered I did

jp_Could you also provide an image of the drivers page?

Let me know if you need me to sort it in a certain way or scroll down further

jp_how is dpc latency?

http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

Could you tell me how exactly to run it, in terms of mumble loading and whether to run an old version or anything else?

Edit: Launched Mumble with both running.
Ouch, it seems core 1 is exploding (not running with affinity to one core btw)

#1 Mumble cause of major lag issues. Help apprecaited in Off Topic

Hi all

So since I've scoured all of google and plenty forums prior to this, it's finally time to post about it asking for further assistance.

A few weeks ago, while playing TF2, my game got crippling lag. Mouse movements were sporadically unresponsive, audio would sound glitchy, as if frozen (think: going to a demo tick sound repeating, but much worse), and the screen would freeze. This happens every few milliseconds, and doesn't stop.

I soon (not so soon) figured out that Mumble was in fact causing all these issues. What makes it worse is that upon closing Mumble, the problem persists until I restart my computer. My computer works fine until I even so much as run Mumble, and then very shortly, 2-3 minutes into usage, my computer starts crapping on itself. To clarify, this is system wide lag. My mouse teleports, audio glitches, and the system runs much slower. However, it's very sporadic, although quite constant and crippling. Also, something to note is that input causes more lag. So, when I don't move my mouse, the computer lags less, etc.

Things I've done to try and fix the problem, in no particular order:
- New Motherboard (when I said not so soon, this is what I meant)
- Reinstall Mumble
- Downgrade Mumble
- Uninstall Mumble, delete all registry files associated with Mumble, reinstall (both downgraded and current and beta snapshot version)
- Running Mumble as administrator, running in Windows XP service pack 3 compatibility mode
- Running with one core affinity
- Running with process importance set to Low (since Mumble runs on High by default)
- Checked for viruses
- Updated sound drivers (and others) from the motherboard website
I've probably done more things, but in summary nothing has worked.

It sounds to me like a hardware issue at this point. The odd thing is, I've had no problems for ~two years, and all of a sudden it started a few weeks back. No idea what could have caused it, no changes I made that would stick out.
A friend said it could be my onboard sound card, and tentatively suggested that getting a sound card might fix it. I'm hesitant to spend more money, especially after buying a motherboard (which was before I diagnosed Mumble as the culprit).

Any help really is appreciated. It kind of makes it difficult to start playing comp when I can't use Mumble. Frustrating, more than not being able to use it. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Also, if you know somewhere to point me in the right direction, please do
Edit 2: Appreciated*

#18 mumble crashes on launch in Q/A Help

I have a similar issue with mumble, where it'll cause the game to get progressively laggier until it's completely unplayable. I made this *much* better by running off one core, although the lag still came back after a while.

That post explains what exactly to do.

However, like I said it still happens, just after more time in-game.

#33 I'm running a TF2 experiment that needs your help in TF2 General Discussion

SPOILER

OP wanted gameplay evidence for comments, and wanted to keep it secret until the map was actually played, but I hopped on the server without anyone online. I saw some things that really stuck out, and caused what I think would make the game unbalanced for both sides anyways.

Spoiler album, with comments

#21 Escape Plan Proposals/ideas in TF2 General Discussion

Why not solve it the way they solved the rest of the minicrits? The main problem with minicrits it seems is the crit capability of no falloff damage.

So, just remove the minicrits, raise damage taken by 25%, leave the duration, and that's it.

Hell, maybe even change how the "marked for death" works.

I like chojje's idea of moving the forward spawn to where the arrow is.
Edit: oh, chojje's thread.
I like the OP as well.
