BTW I think you have autism, i'd get that checked out. Condolences.
if someone says i'm wrong they must be misunderstanding right?
But yeah everything youve posted is nonsense. You had a lot of words in there, I'll give you that!
Ah my bad, honestly It seemed like war was implying that its been a failure, and last time i saw a stream of it, it didnt have that many views. Tbh thats like one of the only games I haven't really followed though. My point still stands though, I don't think the success of HotS will have any relevance on OW.
lol I mean I cant say if valve is reacting to overwatch or not, but after ignoring comp TF2 for 8 years and having 2 games that have had matchmaking for 3-5 years, I find it hard to believe this isn't at least somewhat related to overwatch. WoW/LoL/dota/csgo have had matchmaking for years, 2 of them are valve titles. They just now realize "hmm community servers are pretty much over, we should add matchmaking to tf2" ?
Also, Blizzard being shaky with new IPs ? Havent they only released heroes of the storm? That game definitely seems like a failure, but I don't think anyone can really compete with LoL/dota2 at this point. OW is kind of a new genre and its unfair to measure its chance for success with HotS poor results, considering it was an attempt to take on the two biggest games in the world. Just a completely different situation.
I agree that valve doesnt have to put much effort or investment into TF2 though. Obviously it wouldn't reach the millions like dota2, but I could see it being enough to support top players. That makes it a little sad though, all this time they could have attempted a crowd funded tournament but 8 years after release the comp tf2 community can only speculate that theres a *chance* because matchmaking is on the way.
ArxI played TFC for 8 years. I didn't like the idea of TF2. I saw a load of videos and hated that they took all the speed out of the game. Sadly I had to move to TF2 as TFC was dying and I still wanted to play a game that had some of the TFC characteristics. I feel like Overwatch is pretty much the same thing happening again. Imagine going from this to TF2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOyGGs9s2jA
Yeah I remember leading up to the release of TF2 most people were hyped for fortress forever instead. My team that became the experiment/Pandemic actually played FF first. We ended up drawn to TF2 because of how much hype was surrounding it, even though it looked like dog shit in our eyes because we were used to games like quake or tfc. I think a big scene is more important for a lot of competitive players, as long as the game is still interesting of course. Competition just feels more fulfilling in a bigger game.
I think it will be a little different though. With matchmaking/valve support on the way, I think a lot more people will stay in TF2. Although If overwatch gets big, I can see a lot of invite/im tf2 players switching. It's just too appealing as a competitor to see a big game you know you could be good at, even if you prefer a different game. Which is what happened to a lot of us fortress forever players.
alfaPSA TO INDUST: I just want it to be known that indust had fucked my team over tonight by not showing up and not saying a word about it and we got ffw'd because of it.
Indust if you see this (because you can't see steam apparently or text messages) you can explain to us tomorrow why the fuck you told us you would be here and then never showed up or you'reShow ContentCUT.
The guy spends 99% of his life in his computer chair lol. Why not wait until he tells you his side of the story before jumping to conclusions and posting about it. It could be an emergency and I'm actually worried for him. He's not the type of human that participates in non computer related activities, so not showing up to a TF2 match is a very scary thought. Lol guys I think hes dead.
goldfishI'd rather call it trash talking because that's what it's called everywhere outside of games. In basketball trash talking used to be a big part of the game, and I think its healthy. Trash talking is great for spectators, it's entertaining from an outside point of view. Nobody wants to see two teams play against each other and end every game with a good sportsmanlike "gg". Especially if it was a roll like 5-0. Because that's not a gg.
Trash talking = character. Doublelift is a prime example of this. Nobody here may follow league of legends, but he basically trash talked anyone and everyone and it made it extremely enjoyable to watch.
There is a HUGE difference between trash talking just to make yourself feel good and the other person feel bad, and trash talking light heartedly, not crossing any personal lines and doing it for the purpose of amusement. This is just from personal experience in why I might trash talk, although I only do it because it makes myself and my teammates laugh. It's great for morale, and entertaining spectators. Just don't let your emotions dictate what you say.
was my trash talk to you light hearted? just curious
loljkOverpowered/game breaking - I think a valid reason for banning a weapon would be if it becomes required/necessary in order to win or at least be successful at demoman. What I mean by this definition is that the question of whether the Loose cannon should be banned is not an argumentative question but it is a question of data and statistics. Certainly a simple test for whether teams/players who ran the loose cannon were out right more successful than those who ran pills.Of course there are some methodological questions that arise such as how do we quantify loose cannon success? Perhaps it is DPM, Frags, or Win/loss ratio or a combination of those or all of them. That is beside the point and can be worked out later. Of course there are confounding variables like personal play style and team play style. The point however is that if in a competitive context the loose cannon is "significantly" correlated with greater success then it should be banned because it is necessary to run it to win. If it isn't, then it is not over powered and is simply a side grade to the grenade launcher.
I haven't crunched the numbers personally but I have the sense that while people find it annoying to play against it isn't of game breaking proportions.
Someone can have comparable dpm with the loose cannon vs pipes, but have an inappropriate impact on the game with one random donk on a medic. You can collect all the data you want, but if the complaint about a weapon is the random factor, then how do you measure if it should be banned via stats?
Platinumif you guys hadn't played this game for years and it just came out, would you still think the same way? or would you complain that you can get knocked around by rockets, pipes, etc.?
When the game first game out random crits were enabled and people made mods to turn it off before valve finally added a command to turn it off. Random spread existed. Pipe damage was so random that it could do like 60 dmg or 130 dmg so you could 1 shot unbuffed scouts. You could also one shot medics with a sticky because it could do 150 damage. The list goes on, people complained, and then it was fixed by valve or a 3rd party mod.
lol why do people keep saying that? it has nothing to do with his injury. They wanted arteezy, and aui was the one that had to go for it to happen.
I cant believe they wouldnt take the time to upload an actual pic of ash, does froyo even care?
