thrasherA hard drive cooling fan isn't really necessary. Your PC wont even let itself boot if the CPU fan wasn't working, but there is nothing like that with hard drive cooling fans. To me it sounds like the problem is with the HDD itself. What kind of drive is it, and how old is it?
